I\'ll try the JB Weld. Worse case scenario it doesn\'t work. Thanks for the idea.

take the smallest drill bit you have and drill a few holes on either side of the fracture.  stitch together with wire or strong thread.  coat in epoxy.  i use kevlar and CA glue alot of times.  the mechanical bond of the stitches really helps hold together with epoxy too.

I applied the glue on Saturday. Seemed to work pretty well. I might add the string and give it another coat for added security. Thanks for the idea.

On a side note. I did what I could in the short time I had. I made a base for the radiator to sit on, also cut off the brackets for the headlights for more room. I\'m planning to rivet the plastic trim pieces to the hood, and make some brackets to support the headlights from the hood. Don\'t need them when the hood is up, so shouldn\'t be a problem.

Just today I ordered a battery at sears for $54 total. Planning a \"start\" party for next weekend. I\'m dying to hear it purr.

Well, I have a dilemma.

Plan A: My buddy gave me a working Starshifter with the plastic cover and rubber boot. Still going to cost about $70 for the cable and transmission linkage.

Through researching the different B&M shifters, I\'m finding out a gate shifter like the z-gate or sport would be better than a ratchet for rocking out of a hole.

So, plan B would be to buy a brand new z-gate of sport shifter, then sell the starshifter and the brackets for the ford and dodge transmissions. After a good sell, I would roughly be around the same money, but with a new shifter.

Any thoughts?

I won\'t be starting the motor this weekend, have to work Saturday morning, and its going to rain Saturday night. No time for last minute things. Next weekends looking good so far.

Got the measurements for the shocks finally at the computer. Front is 16-21\", and rear is 22-26\" I flexed it with the right rear on a car ramp, and a jack on the u-bolts of the front left. If anyone has some used shocks they have in the scrap pile, i would be happy to take them off your hands.

That\'s it for now. I\'m being very optimistic about this weekend.

Got the battery installed. Tried turning over the motor. No fuel or spark yet, so I knew it wouldn\'t start.

It acted as if I was using a weak battery. I have 2 gauge wire from battery to starter, and 2ga for the ground. 12.4 volts at the battery, and 12.4 volts from the starter solenoid to the engine block.

The battery is a Sears plus start battery #56 w/525cca.

Could it be just from sitting its struggling, or is it something worse?

could be mighty dry in that block. would take a few revolutions to get the oil up there and smooth things out.

Yeah, I was thinking of squirting some oil down each spark plug hole again and see if the helps. Haven\'t done it since I stored it last fall.

My extra 2100 carb came in the mail from Bath, NY. Hopefully with the 2 carbs I\'ll have 1 good complete carb.

I see there are a few to choose from to borrow from Autozone. Do you know which one I need for the AMC? I\'m guessing Ford, but not sure. Thanks.

never herd of an oil primer...  cut the handle off an old flat blade screwdriver in a cordless drill long enough to reach the oil pump shaft (with the distributer out) and spin till it kicks and starts to pump.  easy.

smike the oil primer is same thing but it has bushings that keep it centered so it doesn;t slip out.

they are all the same concept. flat blade screwdriver the only differences that I know of are the suze of the bushings to keep it centered in the hole.

Well, I learn something new every day. I\'ll go ahead and do that this weekend. Can you believe 80+ degrees?! One way or another I gotta get it running soon!

IT\'S ALIVE!!!

Spent 4 hours last night and 2 hours today. My friend and I finally got it to fire up. Took the valve covers off, and the valves where covered, so we know the oil is flowing. Didn\'t run it long because there is no coolant in it yet. That\'s next weekends project. Runs with the metro\'s key switch.

Another step closer to the 4x4 101 run!
