Project \"Mengler\"
« Reply #15 on: March 23, 2009, 12:37:15 PM »
Well, its that time of year again when I pull it out and start working on it. So far I\'ve done some wiring, and welded on my shock mounts and brake pedal.

I know since I didn\'t post all winter, the thread was erased. And last year not many people posted on here.

So, my question is are you guys interested in the buildup, or should I wait til its running?

(For those that don\'t know, I\'m putting a \'98 Geo Metro body on a \'79 CJ7 frame with an AMC 360 motor.)

Thanks Mike!

If you want, you can erase the other post topic so there isn\'t a duplicate.

I have the driveshafts ready to install, my buddy came over and welded the shock mounts on, and welded  the brake pedal together, so now I just have to bleed the brakes and they should work.

I wish. I just need about $400-500 for the rest of the parts, and every weekend to work on it to be ready. It\'s one of those things you can see the end, but little things here and there add up quick.

If anyone has used parts to go with my \"parts to buy\" list let me know. I can know next weekend what size shocks I need.

BTW, the tires I have on it are for mockup purposes and are too bald to go through anything serious. I really need a set of 34\" x 9.5\" swampers to make it complete. The 33 x 12.5\'s are too wide and barely miss the frame.  If only I had $800 to burn.

New pictures:

Engine Electronics

Exhuast

Oil Filter

Front

Front Side

Hopefully finish the bracket for the brake pedal, and install the rear hooks today. (Yes I know the front bumper needs a liitle trimming, but don\'t it look good? :) )

update - Brake pedal bracket done - just needs to be bled and brakes are DONE!

Got the electric fans in. They are off a Cherokee. One of the fans got damaged. There are 3 supports that go from the motor to the shroud. 2 of them broke at the motor.

Any of you ever tried to repair the plastic? I know glue probably won\'t hold up well. I was thinking of riveting metal tabs on. I also noticed there are 3 holes at the motor, maybe mount it that way? Let me know your thoughts.

If you need pictures, I\'ll try to get them tonight.

epoxy probably won\'t hold.  zipties are a bit redneck but I\'ve had really good luck with fan shrouds....

Most motorcyclists use JB Weld, and swear by it.  Cycle fairings take a lot of stress, so maybe this would work for the mounts?
