Delivan is a long way to bring 20\' sticks of 1 3/4\"  lol

the brake lines probably will be the most expensve part of my quicky spring over...   i didnt get a chance to look at daves, but ill cross that bridge when i get there... dont know what condition the hard / flex lines are in on this truck yet, brakes are locked (i havent picked it up yet either :)   There is a descent kit on ebay that i have seen for spring over i might steal some ideas from.  id like to minimize canobolizing the spring perches on the D30 in the front, cause the disks/ nuckles, or possibly the whole axle will end up on the CJ eventually (4Wdrum and sick of it)

i bet it will look sick though with even 35\"s, dont see too many scramblers arround... none what im going to do to it...

depending on how ambitious i am the next few weekends, family plans have changed so it might make an appearnce at the WP run Oct27....

but i will know better when i start to tear into it this weekend, dont know how reliable the I6 in it is or what condition the electrics and such are in.  I always like a fresh project with all the goodies and hackjobs from prevous owners to find!

well that was a trip and a half....

lets try getting a CJ8 up on a car hauler that does run and the brakes are locked almost solid where two grown men cant budge it in neutral.

that was fun, lots of ratch straping and using the starter motor to drive on to the trailer in gear.... and then using the truck to slam on the brakes to get it to jump foward the last few feet... not an osha approved procedure needless to say.

anyways, shes home and a little tinkering and bypass of a rotted fuel line (or empty tank), she fired right up and I backed it into the garage  :-)

the tail gate and bed is in alot better condition than i thought, the sides and fenders will need some work.  inside under the carpet looks fresh and no rot, and other than the CB dangeling on the floor... i could not find a light or switch that does not work.... i was amazed, a radio and 2 speed wipers!... and squirters... its like a caddy compared to the CJ lol

pushed the brakes, and on the 3rd pump fluid blasted out in the rear somewhere... no worrys though.

tomorrow, hope to jack her up and pop the tires and see how bad the frame really is and weather or not ill have to pull the tub to do the work yet (im thinking yes).

springs look usable for a spring over, but shackles / shackle mounts look beat.  behind the seats are all kinds of goodies and spair parts i havent looked at yet either.

well i work pretty much straight through the weekends other than some family stuff that usually pops up.  But i can only work in it weekends cause its in my moms garage in buffalo where most of my heavy tools still are.

I was thinkin about trying to get it back together and titled for the WP run at the end of the month, but i have alot of work to do... if i can do the front spring over, fab a new droped steering link, pull the tub, blast the frame, paint the frame, new brake lines, fix some body rot in the floor, remount the tub, bleed the brakes out and get the back up lights working i should be good to go.... sounds ambitous for 2 weekends though...

have to ebay a new tank and sender too...

project cost so far:

$1325 for truck
$50 Uhaul trailer :(
$80 calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, springs, shoes

I just saw this so I thought I would post up.

I\'m Josh aka the Scrambler guy from buffalo mentioned above. Did you purchase the red scrambler the guy had as well, I had been watching it on ebay.

Here\'s a couple of pics from last weekend at Rausch Creek.

the pic above is the optional route on the yellow jacket trail.

this pic was taken cresting the top of jotters way.

Good Luck with your build, If you have any questions your more than welcome to ask.

just the blue one, im kicking myself i didnt, but 3 trucks was enough for me now.  it only went for 500$ and had some good parts on it, but was in alot worse shape too.

nice build, did you do all the work yourself?  Im still toying with a full resto like my CJ5, not sure yet.  gona get it lifted and running for a winter jeep right now.

I did everything myself in about 3 months total. It sat in a farmers field for 12 years before I picked it up.

Chevy 350/Turbo 350/Dana 20
Dana 44 locked/ Ford 9\" spool
4.10\'s
Bobbed approx 20\"
Boatsided
Aluminium removable floors
36\" sx\'s
Dodge Dakota 40/20/40 front seat to fit 3 people

The list goes on.

I\'m hoping to start the winter teardown soon, to make another bunch of updates.

If you need pics of any areas, just let me know.

My brotherinlaw is trying to talk me into to taking a free 79-81ish Ford250 with a 460, C6 tranny (dont know the Tcase), D44 front, D60 rear, 3.55 gears.  motor in rebuildable condition suposeably, his buddy bought the truck for the plow riging on the front for 200$ and is junking the rest.

460 sounds like alot of motor.... and im not crazy about an auto, would have to regear axles, D44 with 460 and 39\"s? eek?
