CB antenna tune

Anyone have an SWR meter they\'d be willing to let me borrow?  Even if we just meet up in a parking lot somewhere so I can tune this antenna.

I\'m sorry...but I can\'t justify spending $50 for a Radio Shack \"special\" that will be used ONCE.

unfortunately, wasn\'t planning to go to the Rhinos game (wife aggro).

Any chance we can meet up somewhere?

Yea, I have a few SWR meters.  I need to calibrate them to my good MFJ \"Grand Master\" HF/VHF/UHF SWR meter for Ham radios.

I should plan to have a test & tune day sometime.  If we can keep ourselves from attending the \"after meeting\" gathering for a little while, then we can actually do it after a meeting.

Before tuning, make sure that your coax is in good shape, and the antenna mount and radio are well grounded.  Also, the more antenna that is above the vehicle, the better it\'ll tune, and work.

I could type paragraphs on antennas and stuff, but I\'d probly kill the thread.

Don\'t have a pic on my Jeep right now, but this gives you the general idea (using same mount/antenna)

Right now, the radio is grounded directly to the battery (may move it to a body point as I\'ve noticed some faint noise that coincides with the engine speed).
Antenna coax is brand new.

As usual, my schedule is making it impossible to get to the monthly meetings.

Mr. Mindless....can we setup a day next week to do this?

Should work.  Maybe I should get Dopple to calibrate my SWR meter on his Grand Master dealio.

You should check for any shorts between conductor and shield before you bother wandering over here, Carmic has that exact same (overpriced) kit and his had a bad crimp on the radio end of the cable that shorted shield to conductor.
