Junk Yard

Hi,
I\'m looking for a local junk yard that would have used Dodge parts (98-99 Durango).

Any ideas or recommendations?

Thanks,
Doug

I have two good cores for you if you want....  They have bent sector shafts for what it\'s worth.

by the way - if it\'s not bent/broken, a seal kit is pretty easy to do.

Mike,
I\'m actually looking for a used steering box from a 99 Durango (v8 - 4 wheel drive) to swap into my 2000 Jeep TJ.  Aparently, it\'s a direct swap.  My Jeep steering box has been leaking for a while, and I\'d like to fix/upgrade for cheap.

A rebuilt unit is $200+.  I\'d like to find a used (non leaking) one for closer to $50.  Just thinking I could get a good deal at a place that would let me pull the part myself.

Thanks,
Doug

only place you are going to find that type of stuff that I know of is ontario truck parts, you should call them and find out, there prices are higher than a normal junk yard, they won\'t even let you in to pull parts they do all the pulling.

OTP sucks.  I\'ll never do business with them after how I\'ve been treated when inquiring about parts from them and getting prices on some of what they do have.

check car-part.com.  giant junkyard invantory system.  also check with the guys next to DeltaSonic on W Henrietta.  drawing a blank on their name but they are reasonable to deal with.

Action Auto Parts.  I\'ve dealt with them before, no regrets.

when my steering box went in my Tj, the better deal was at AutoZone...Brand new 1 plus life time warranty also for i think $139 ...Mind you this was 2-3yrs ago..

$139 sounds like a TJ box, not Dakota/Durango.  He\'s looking for the upgrade, and it is a substantial one.

Mike...

This is what he is talking about..The box that is in my TJ is from a \'99 Durango 318 4x4.  This is a direct bolt in...Much stronger shaft...Now mind you, it\'s been 3 yrs since i bought this from AutoZone, but i\'m pretty sure i\'m close on the price..

I thought that when I\'d checked on replacing my steering box from Advance it was more like $230-250, about 1 year ago.

If you can do it new for under $150 I\'d consider that an absolute steal.

I still have my 2 Dakota boxes for cores if you need.  They\'ll be going to scrap sometime soon though.
