free Toyota Tacoma stuff
« on: April 28, 2008, 02:31:24 PM »
Thats right, it\'s free!

Toyota is buying my truck back as part of a deal they are offering to Tacoma owners who\'s frame is too rusty to to fix. As a result of this, they will crush the truck once it\'s been turned over to them. I asked the tech when I was in about removing some parts I have added, and he said, \"take anything you can as long as it\'s drive-able enough to safely and legally get here.\"

So if anyone needs anything from a 96 Tacoma, speak now and it\'s yours. I\'ll even work with you to get it there, but I do ask that you do the work, and have it finished in a timely manner. Some things of interest that I\'d really not like to see go to waste would be a very good LCE stainless header, and some rear 2.5\" lifted leaf springs.

The rear axle and wheels are already taken, and the interior is mostly gone, but the body is in great shape and the motor and transmission run great. It also has almost new front shafts and bearings, a new clutch, and a new steering rack.

Before anyone asks, no the motor and exhaust will not fit on a Toyota truck built before \'95. The exhaust is passenger\'s side, the drive shaft is driver\'s side, which is backwards from the pre-tacoma trucks. Sorry.

Feel free to call me 585-201-0050 in the next week or two if there is anything you would want.

Did it, done, got the T-shirt. I took it Friday and they said it\'s \"done\".

theres sending me a check as soon as I bring it back. I expect that based on what they told me, it\'s 150% of the KBB excellent retail value which puts it at about $7800.
I\'m going to keep the wheels, because I bought some aftermarket ones to replace the stock steelies, and the rear axle is getting swapped for the same thing sans the locker I added.

There going to crush it, so I don\'t feel like I\'m \"stealing\" anything from anyone. Toyota did this on there own and they offered to buy it back as is. That will be a major factor in two years and long into the future when it\'s time for new cars.

Do you believe everything you read online?

Believe me, if it were me, I\'d slide a frame off the flat bed onto their little \"quarantine\" lot. It has a great running motor, a new clutch, front shafts, tires and a steering rack. It needs to be in running condition when it gets there.

Now I\'m getting conflicting reports, some guys say they are going to crush it, others say they will scape the title, half cut it and sell the parts. I don\'t care because Toyota is giving me way more than I could ever get if I sold it. I don\'t see any of the other manufacturers doing that. I\'m only taking the parts I have added new like the wheels and the tires.

After that, I really don\'t care what they do with it, I just hope it doesn\'t get waisted. Now Mike, do you actually want anything off it or not?

When you decide when you\'re heading to Keith\'s I\'ll be there.

I have worse wheels and tires to put on it than he does and maybe a crap radiator too.

Hoping for something other than Thursday night.  Friday or Saturday  would be better this week but the weather is gonig to suck this weekend.

O.K. last chance! the tires have been swapped and it\'s ready to go. We ended up not swapping the back axle, so if anyone wants the locker, let me know before I take it to the dealer and I\'ll hold on to it until we can swap. The third member would be quick to swap out if you can find a time to get to Bristol.

I weren\'t at friday\'s

as they say in baseball, HE GONE!

I\'ll ask about the third, but they\'re pretty picky about turn in. Believe me, otherwise I\'d be sliding a frame off the flatbed...
