I\'m considering a trip that weekend, but hate to drive to Wispering Pines just for the day (I\'m from Elbridge NY) so what you have posted sounds interesting.
My sons and I are due for a camping trip that weekend. We\'re new to the club and havn\'t done a lot truck offroading. We have a stock \'94 S10 Blazer with tires, lockers and a winch. Please let me know if you think it this would be a good run for us 1st timers.
Also, Is this a private park?,  and who you contact to arrange that part of it. We\'d be bringing a small camping trailer.

 Thanks, Scott

Scott,

This is a private park but no reservations are needed.  Complete info on Rausch can be had at http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/  Camping is primitive but popups are no issue - just know that there are no hookups unless you go to Echo Valley or one of the other nearby campgrounds.

They have a lot of trails that would be fantastic locked on 31s, however I\'m locked on 40s and most of the guys I would be meeting down there are similar size...

What we have often done with groups like this in the past is run trails that are very challenging for the near-stock rigs that have larger optional obstacles for the more built rigs.  Being that this is your first trip to Rausch and you sound relatively new to the sport this could be a bit intimidating.

We\'ve had success before though: Z71 (Chris) had his first offroad excursion in his stock \'04 (?) Chevy 1500 extended cab pickup and came out unscathed, and with a few years\' experience and a well built rig Brian Rowe (BJR something or other here, moved to Colorado last fall) used to keep up with most everything any of us ran in an XJ Cherokee on 31s with a front locker, tight rear limited slip, rock sliders and careful tire placement.

Let\'s see who else chimes in as interested, but even if the Right Coast guys aren\'t interested in running something that you\'ll be comfortable with the minimum group size is 2 rigs so just the two of us can head out and gain you some experience.

Do you have the really important trail equipment like knowledge to fix what might break, solid front and rear tow points, and a CB?

to correct myself: reservations are required for camping.  If we go I\'ll take care of calling Lynn or Bruce on Friday to let them knew our status.

Thanks For the info. I\'m pretty experienced with ATV offroading, and used to ride with a group of friends in extreme terrain, (but can\'t do that anymore because of some serious gut problems) and I\'ve done a moderate amount of work related offroading, so I\'m not totally inexperienced.
I don\'t mind very challenging conditions (it\'s not really fun if it\'s easy, and I know I\'d learn a ton from you guys), and can fix what I may break within reason.
My concerns would be avoiding major body damage (I can live with a a few scratches & dings), too much hard physical work as my gut isn\'t right, but I have 2 young (10 &12) boys to spot and hook up straps etc. and I wouldn\'t to constantly slow down the rest of the group down.
My little truck is pretty well set up and meets all of the Mudnuts trail rules, like tow points and CB, and carry a highlift jack, straps and a movable winch. It\'s only real weakness is ground clearance. I\'ll probably weld up a set of rock sliders before the trip though.
Let me know what you think, and if someone else with a \"lowrider\" wants to go, all the better.

Sounds like you\'re pretty well prepared then.

C\'mon guys, let\'s got a bigger group together and have some fun.

Smike, take a weekend off wrenching and bring the CJ down!

Mike,

OK, talked to the boys and they\'re up for it.
Barring unforseen complications, we\'ll be there.
We were hoping to leave friday and get there between 5 and 7pm. Let me know what you need from me as far as info, deposits etc, and I\'ll make sure you get it. I\'m going to download the forms from the Rausch Creek website and get them all filled out.
If there\'s any way I can help you with the planning etc, please let me know. If it\'s easier, I can give you a call with the info, just e-mail your number to Scott594@aol.com.

Thanks, Scott

I\'ll likely be arriving at around 8-9pm, unless I manage to leave work early.  No deposits or anything are needed.  I\'ll PM you my number so you have it.

If you have any questions let me know.

wnepwrsteernkid,

this isn\'t a \"club ride\" so that\'s fine and dandy.  What\'s your rig?  I looked and I don\'t see any intro post here describing it and your ad trying to sell it on CraigsList is gone.
