I've been slowly upgrading the buggy since we got it last December. I wasn't sure which direction I would go at first, but now I'm confident it will be a trail rider/crawler (as opposed to a mudder). The next step is some modification to the stock ROPS. It's a six point cage made with 1.75" tubing, not sure exactly what the specs are. I'm planning on using 1.75" DOM for any additions. I think the stock cage is strong enough to protect us, but I don't think it will hold up to repeated abuse. It also doesn't provide any attachment points for the shoulder belts of the five point harnesses.  I'm thinking the first step will be adding to the main hoop in the configuration shown with the yellow string in the attached image. This is my first rollcage project, I'm interested in what y'all think.

"Nodes" are good, triangles are good, gussets are good. Avoid shearing forces.

MrMindless:
Also good: shoulder belts close to level from shoulder to mount. The seat holes may or may not be useful but don’t really help on that angle because they’re not really structural.

no idea if this is an issue, but may want to try to keep the cage and seat mounts & seat belts independent from each other if it'll see high speed? I'd imagine it'll be unpleasant if the cage deformed in a hard hit. You get smooshed in the process because the seat stayed while your seat belts went with the cage.
