It was a good weekend for Jaysen and I. We arrived first on Friday at about 6:30p. The camping areas were packed and the day parking area was already filling fast! With the holiday weekend and the competition, there were and unbelievable amount of people there. I got permission from Lynn to use the day parking side and we set up camp. Harry and Hannah joined, followed by Spencer, sMike, and Matt. There was a west wind blowing across the parking lot and raising clouds of dust but the spot we were granted was pretty shielded. I grabbed the chainsaw, cut some firewood, and Jaysen made a fire. It got pretty chilly. It was a cold and fitful slumber.
After a cold night in the 30s, we were met by brisk morning morning sunshine. With everyone prepped and checked in, we met up with the Connecticut crew (Mike, Mike, Andy, Ryan, Ember, and ...? ) and headed out toward the old office and L trails while sMike and Matt headed across the road to the North property and harder trails. About dinner time, sMike and Matt headed to VA for Brolite racing. It was a busy and noisy parking lot all evening and deep into the night.
A warmer evening Saturday and Sunday morning more temperate, Spencer departed for home while we the Connecticut crew headed to the South property. About midday, we went north for "bluer" trails and then Devil's Den. More firewood secured and another, warmer evening enjoyed. Many more left before nightfall and, other than a wide assortment of loud music, it was a far more peaceful night.
(I'm intentionally leaving out some details so others can chime in...)
The TJ did just fine but I stalled it about a ba-jillion times. 4 cyl is not 6 cyl...
New rear bump stop that I could not seat properly vacated it's previously damaged jouncer cup. Flipped it upside down and wired-tied in. Good for the remainder of the weekend.
Also had a previously inadequately repaired rear ARB solenoid fail. Not enough "meat" on the wire left to effect another repair. Swapped front/rear. 3x4 good enough for Sunday.
