Track bar Bushing Removal

Any tips how to do it?  They have been in there a long time and dont want to budge.

Either torch them out (messy but effective) or drill a series of holes around the outside of the bushing (not the trackbar) so that it has some room to wiggle and get loose.

The metal sleeve doesnt get re-used?  It looks like the bushings outer diameter are the size of the inner diameter of the sleeve.  Are there different size bushings?

I also have a new issue, when the nut loosened up, it had plenty of wiggle room and it wallowed out the bolt hole and the bolt has a lot of slop.  I dont know if its a good idea to drill the mount for a bigger bolt then the metal on the inside of the bolt hole on the bracket with be thin and so will the spacer.

Your new part should have a metal outer sleeve and the inner bushing sandwich-ing the rubber donut, right?  Definitely less work to buy a whole new bar.  Not much $$ and both ends are new.

Some have drilled out both the mount and bushing to a larger hole.  Could also 'sister' up reinforcing plates and weld them in.  Could cut it all off and weld on a whole new stronger unit  .  No perfect solution.

Its just 2 polyurethane bushings and the center metal bushing/spacer.  $120 for the track bar, $15 for the bushing.

Well, the bushing was not a success, but the bushing wasn't the problem. It was all the slop in the bolt hole. I put a bigger size bolt in the hole then I welded the nut and the washer to the mount. New tires, new wheel bearing and a track bar with no side to side movement, she handles like a champ now. Now I can move on to the other stuff the parts I need.

i have drilled bushings and mounts out to 7/16" with good luck   


the 5.9 will get this fix tomorrow, death wobble on 90 is killing me!

I have no death wobble and I'm going to do everything I can to stay ahead of it. I thought I had it, but I was mis-informed.

I pounded a 1/2in in there. Nice and tight in the bushing, closed up the gap on the bolt hole.
