Daily Driver / Off Road Tires

Hello All   8)

It's time for me to upgrade my tires! I am currently running 285/75/16 BFG KM2. I have been running these for 1 year now and LOVE the way they perform on the rocks, trails and yes mud! They do real well aired down and they wear real nice too !         But I hate the noise, when I have my doors off, on the road.
So in my search for "35's" I would like to find a tire that will have the same performance on the rocks as the KM2's but give me a quieter ride on the road.
Many have givin feedback on this "common debate" but most have not had their tires on for over a year, with over 25000 miles or have wheeled them in both scenarios.
So if you have "experience" with a tire that you have wheeled on the rocks as well as the road and has a good tread life for both...please share !

Anything great Offroad is going to have a loud aggressive tread. Big voids let the tread blocks slap the pavement and that's the source of the noise.

You've got to go back to an all terrain type pattern to get quieter. And that's not gonna perform as well in anything other than bone dry rock.

I never found my km2's to be that loud with 33,000+ miles on them and tons of tread left. Are they heel/toe wearing at all? I had very very slight chopping but rotated every oil change and it kept them nice and smooth.
My exhaust and wind noise were definitely both louder than the tires with top and doors off.

This.  You'll never have the best of all scenarios.

Just turn off your hearing aids...  :P

Mike,

Check out the write up on project JK on the Faulken Wild Peak, they are Discount tires brand, and great for all terrain, according to the write up.  Great price, and dead quit on the road.

Did you buy Tires yet?  I have some 35" SS Trxus on my JK that are for sale. Could make you a great deal on wheels and tires.  I want to move up to 37's.

Not that will do any good now, But I have a set of these (33) on my TJ, and have never had any problems.  No road noise and plenty of traction at Rausch both dry and very wet.  Just my $.02.
