rear bumper weight
« on: July 31, 2007, 12:45:27 PM »
I weighed my bumper last night.. It weighs 75lbs by itself.  Is that heavy for a bumper?

I also have acquired a swing-away tire carrier from a H2 that I am thinking of using.  I haven\'t weighed it, but I estimate it also weighs around 70lbs.  Do you think this combo would be to much?  I may just try to use the hinge from the carrier if I can build a lighter frame.

I dunno but I\'d love that H2 tire carrier if you get rid of it.  I decided I\'m gonna put a heavy duty hinge on the corner of my rear bumper for a crane type lift so I can move things in and aut of my bed (like my topper, motors, axles, my stupidly heavy spare tire) so I could realy use a starting point like that :-)

I dont think that the carrier would be too heavy.  Most of the Bumper/Carrier combos out there have to weigh at least that much.

I like heavy bumpers, mine must weigh 300 lbs in the back and 150 lbs in the front.  You can add stuff to them pretty easily, and use them for jacking/lifting points.
