WTB ZJ steering shaft
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:35:01 PM »
Hello im looking for some information about steering shafts. since i am in need of one and the local dealership has informed me that the part has been discontinued since 2008 I would like to know if anyone on here has one for sale or any usefull info for a repair or possibly an upgrade.  Does anyone know if i could use one off a regular cherokee or similar chrysler products.  I know that there are some certian specs that limit my options.  But ive spent alot of time looking for a good steering shaft and have found nothing but dead ends.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Flaming River and Borgeson come to mind for parts. I think there're a few others. What exactly is wrong with yours?

there is a good amount of movement in the joints which makes the steering wheel feel like its going to shake itself right out of the jeep haha :o

Aftermarket of coarse but other than the two named companies above is there any more vendors?  Flaming river doesnt have the part for me which leaves borgenson's 270$ shaft as my only option.

I did a DIY joint and slip replacement and with all the needed effort and still about a hundred bucks in parts (6n size tractor PTO stuff), the full Borgeson shaft would have been WELL worth it to just bolt in.

its a 93 ZJ that shaft is 95-98 the particular shaft i need was only from 92-95 according to the dealership parts department. so the only one i can use is borgenson.  i already saw that link  but if you read the description it clearly states  1/6/95-98. not going to work

i think you should look into the differences...
i had a 93,98 5.2 and 98 5.9..
the column change I think had little to do with the firewall down..

buy the part on amazon and look at it.. if not send it back
