Future TJ plans: Has anyone ever tried this?
« on: February 28, 2012, 09:08:33 AM »
There's just something too enjoyable about a street driven jeep to completely give it up for trail only use, but down the road here I want to build up the TJ quite a bit more. I know there's plenty of gaudy attempts to keep fenders/mud flaps on some comp cut vehicles, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever come across a good looking quick attach/detach fender assembly for the rear. Not just a flare, I have that already. A tub dovetail with an assembly that mimicked the stock setup for coverage would be interesting I think.

Most guys get aggressive with their comp cut.  You should be able to keep most, if not all, of the rear tub and still be able to get a 0* departure angle.  Hog out the sides for what you need and and mod or mimic the Metalcloak stuff to cover?

Obviously a bit on the extreme side, but if you could go back and forth from "streetable" (stated very loosely) to something close to this kind of trimming.  :P

He's fine in NY - we don't have fender laws!
