Oddball Toyota Guy
« on: August 10, 2010, 10:01:06 PM »
Well, I have been in Rochester for 11 years and never realized that there was any local offroad presence.  I guess im just oblivious !  Some of you have probably seen me ripping around in my Salvatore\'s FJ Cruiser, If not that then my 1st gen Toyota 4 runner.  I hate mud, and love rocks !  I just stumbled on the DTRP park and see that theres a playday this weekend, and im going to make an effort to show. Heres some pics of my rig http://gallery.me.com/nick.pearl/100353

Looking forward to meeting some more local wheelers !

Nick

Welcome, Nick!  We like variety and have other makes than Jeep in the club.

See you in/on the rocks!

I\'m pretty sure I\'ve seen you at Rausch, and I think I recognize that white Taco as a TTORA rig?

In any case, welcome! Glad you found us.

Thanks for the welcomes ! I do wheel rausch but I try not to go too much, just so I don\'t wear it out and get bored there. I am a member of the Gotham city land cruisers, who wheel at a members property in the catskills. Basically wherever I can find somewhere to go ! I\'m planning on heading to the Yankee toys fall gathering in NH, and I\'m hoping to take a ride out to your DTRP this Sunday for the play day.

The 4 runner is an 87 with it\'s little 4 banger in it, an r151f turbo tranny and dual 23 spline xfer cases with 4.7 lows in th rear case. I\'m running 4.88\'s with a Detroit in the rear and Toyota e locker with an fj80 series hig pnion 3rd member with the reverse cut gears up front. I\'m using 63\" chevy springs in the rear and my old rears with a couple more leafs up front.
Right now I have an \'83 front axle but I\'m hoping to slap a diamond in this winter then I  want to move up to nitto mud grapplers 37x13.5x17, but for now it\'s sitting on bfg mt\'s with 17\" allied monster diamond alloy beadlocks. The white truck is my freind terry\'s rig, who I usually wheel with .

Hopefully there will be many more trails available at the proposed Northumberland County OHV park, in Shamokin PA, in a year or two.

Terry is a familiar name.  Is he on RightCoast? What\'s his internet handle?

Sounds like a sweet sleeper setup :)

Terry is a little technology challenged lol, I know that after building way too many rigs he bought this one, but the truck was built by a guy on right coast. that park in shamokin sounds just like the rock creek park in PA, we went there a few months ago, it wasn\'t bad, just not enough trails, don\'t get me wrong, it has great potential, but the clubs that are cutting trails are volunteers, and we all know how hard it is to organize a bunch of volunteers to go cut trails on 6k acres :) at least shamokin will be closer, i would be much more inclined to go cut trails a little closer to home.

how is the DTRP rock garden setup ?  is it worth the ride out this weekend ?

I have not heard back after a couple of phone calls to Tony if they got the new load of rock put down.  So I am unable to comment if there have been any changes since the last play day.

^ That is a no go on the new rock.

WNYO\'s 1tonzuk (Ryan) is going to be there on Saturday he says to shift some rock around and do some work on the park for Sunday

Nick, I\'d say it\'s worth coming out. It\'s not a very big place but it\'s a fun little set up with a lot of potential
