Back Country 4 Wheelers Poker run 2010.02.21

Jason and his crew are lucky.

They have quite a variety of seasonal roads right in their backyard.  The weather cooperated nicely giving some challenging terrain, and an absolutely perfect February day to enjoy it on.

Mindless (tow rig)
Smike (tow rig)
carchameleon (TJ) +1
ollllllo & corac143 (tow rig)
WingMan (TJ Rubicon) +1
Gramps (TJ) +1
K9Keeper (TJ) +1
Fasteddie (Ram) +1

I think ExplorHer was also along with us, plus a black Suzuki SX4.

We had a lot more fullsizes than usual, with Erik Smike and myself all running our tow rigs and Eddie along in the PowerRam.

We arrived at the start/finish at about 10:45.  After a smokey sign in (woodstove troubles in the clubhouse) and a first card draw, we hit the road.  The route took us along a number of seasonal roads, and we were soon to learn why they were seasonal.

The first road we came to was a straight shot from ridgeline to ridgeline across a valley.  As with most of the roads we were to see today there was 4-6\" of wet sticky snow on top of 1\" of solid clear slick ice.  We arrived to a couple of trucks in front of us having a hard time with the climb on the far side of the valley.

[someone please feel free to continue, otherwise I\'ll pick it up tomorrow when I\'m done yawning]

- long walk to even see the bottom
- hard to walk on
- we all made it
- dogs
- superduty in a ditch, first REALLY slick climb
- smike in a ditch, and spinning
- running from a Suzuki
- Mike Wolf spinning
- abandoned road awesomeness, and the dually fitting
- good dinner
- smike 2nd place
- couple raffle winners

I tried to throw together a Google map of the route but got frustrated.  additionally I\'m not sure how well I remember it.

anyone can edit it, here\'s what I\'ve got.
