Ok so I have IFS tacoma with 5.29 gears front and rear.  I was driving in 4 wheel drive, stop at a light and went to go and the front end locked up!!! Took it out of 4 wheel drive and unlocked the hubs and drove it home. I am now getting parts to do an sas kit, the only thing is do you guys recomend and axle??  Most sas kits use a stock toyota 79-85 front axle. My front drive shaft is on the driver side I know I will need a new drive shaft and have to pay someone to weld up the hangers, steering box and shock mounts.  I am open to any ideas becouse i cant mud with a broke truck!!!

I don\'t know if Toyota makes a DS drop.  If you are sold on keeping it Toyota, you\'ll have to do some customization.  Xtreme 4x4 did a mod for their little tube buggy rotating the knuckles and differential.  It is some work, but it would still be all Toyota.

Another option for a new axle with e-locker is a MOPAR D44 for a Wrangler (4.11s).  Cut off the mounts and put yours on, 12v and viola!  Sounds easy, doesn\'t it.  It\'s not.  Also, not sure how comparable width measurements are anyway.

There are a lot of aftermarket custom axle manufacturers.

You\'ve got some work ahead of you...

Yes I make a dana 44 work long as the drop is on the driver side.  All pro offroad make a kit to use a 79 to 85 toyota front axle but I want to get into crawling so the dana 44 is the best thing. Dana 60 is to wide!! I am now collecting parts to do the swap.

I\'m not up on my tacoma tech, sas\'ing a tacmoa looks expensive!

Looks like alot of tacoma guys go waggy 44 or 60. Doesnt look like theres alot of tacoma kits out there.

All Pro kit looks good, expensive, but 3-linked. http://www.allprooffroad.com/9504tacomasas

Sky Manufacturing makes a kit, leaf springs, but might save ya $1000 of so if your on a budget

06 Frontier 4x4
03 Ram CCLB 4x4
84 Viking truck camper
92 Toyota Truggy gone
Mountain bikes, it's cheaper and smaller

Looking at going with the waggy 44 and that all pro offroad sas kit. But if i am spending all that doe I will be going with an air locker up front. Dont need it for the rear untill I break the slip locker in it now.  Thanks for the info and I will keep you guys posted on the project.
