Mahany welding
« on: October 24, 2009, 03:54:40 PM »
I took the TIG clinic at Mahany welding today.
All I\'ve got to say is that TIG welding Stainless steel right is HARD.

The class was fun and I\'m happy I took it. 3 hours of class a lunch and 4 hours of Lab time.  The class is not meant to create a good welder but more of an into into using the technology, safety and technique. The Lab started with practice on steel, with out fill then with fill rod. Towards the end they handed out aluminum and a few people got Stainless. It took me a while to get a good lap joint with the right coloring. i was constantly either blowing a hole in the stainless and killing the mix or loosing the pool.

I\'ll have to be be practicing for a long while before I call my self a competent welder.

I took the 4 week TIG class there and a intro to MIG when i first got into welding. I can\'t say enough good things about Mahany\'s! They are totally awesome, professional, and their customer service is great too!

Now you get the student discount!!

I would highly recommend any of their classes for anyone who wants to learn how to weld.

cool, the TIG class is much more advanced. The MIG one day or weekend class is all you need for almost all 4x4 fabrication.

Took the one day class with my wife.  It was great!  Definitely a good starting point.  I\'d highly recommend the class to anyone thinking of starting their MIG skills or honing their technique.

3+ hours of classroom with breaks
.5 hour lunch (provided)
4 hours of supervised \"lab\", TIG and plasma demos

Got gloves, beanie, and safety glasses, too.

Maybe this thread could be moved to Product Reviews?
