RCQ: Rausch Creek KOH Qualifier. Friday, May 15th
« on: April 22, 2009, 09:34:51 AM »
For those of you who don\'t already know what this is, I\'m not sure I can adequately describe it.  This is a 1 day race as a qualifier for the 2010 King of the Hammers race in Johnson Valley, CA.

I will be there working the race, and if my truck is done wheeling the weekend that follows.  Here\'s info on working the race from the source:

Quote
Guys thanks ahead of time for stepping up to help at what may be the biggest east coast off road race.  There are still some unanswered questions on our end for the ins and outs but here is what we can tell you know.  What we need to understand is who can be on site Thur and Friday at 8am?  The people that can be on site Thur AM at 8am will be given jobs that will stay the same for Fridays\'s race.  For those who can\'t make Thursday but only Friday you will be teamed up with one of the guys from Thursday to understand your role for the race.

Most of the jobs will be maning the course, recovery, check points and things along those lines.  If you can bring your trail rig that would be great since you will be out on course somewhere.  If you can\'t bring your trail rig just let us know and we will put you in a spot that can access easy.  We also need your cell phone numbers just so we have a complete list for our staff.

On Thursday night at 5pm we will be having a drivers meeting which all of you are welcome to stay and hear the speeches by Jeff, Dave and the RC staff.  We will be having a pig roast dinner (nothing too fancy) so feel free to stay.  Along the lines of food for the race. I suggest you pack a lunch because it may be hard for us to get food to you on the course.

So these are the time lines that we know as of now and could be changed or moved around as we get closer.

Thursday 8am staff meeting at the office. (if you can\'t make 8 let us know).  You will be given your assailments and we can do a \"field your questions\" sort of thing.  Go out to your spot and take a look at your area.  5pm drivers meeting and dinner.

Friday 8am staff meeting (please be on time for this one) and then the race will start we think around 10am to let the west coast people wake up and watch on pirate 4x4.  Race ends when it ends Friday afternoon.

Again there are some things I don\'t have all the answers for yet because of dealing with a outside promoter things don\'t get answered real quick sometimes.  Feel free to ask and if we have the answer we will let you know.

If you have time on Tue and Wed of that week and would like to come and help set up the course please let us know.

Please send Kyle your cell phone number, if you can have a trail vehicle there, and what day you will arrive.  This is so we can plan ahead.

Last but not least THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Bruce

that was from an email, not a thread.  I\'ll take a look and see if there\'s a reg thread at RC4x4....

Okay, here\'s the RCQ Help thread.

kbjeepin is the Kyle that needs to be informed of your plans.  For those of you who are not registered on Rausch Creek\'s forum, I\'ll pass your info along.  Let me know when you are COMMITTED to coming, and when, and I\'ll PM him.  I want your current mobile number and email address to go along with it.

if you\'re spectating you\'ll have to handle that yourself.  want to head up the spectators group? Good, I though so :)

spectators won\'t be able to camp there fri-sat, and possibly not all weekend just to forewarn.

Yay! I\'m a group! :)

If anyone else is planning to leave Weds let me know - personally (call, email, text, something) so i know.  otherwise I\'m counting on heading down solo, and I may be getting a very late start (i.e. possibly leaving Thursday morning for a 08:00 arrival) depending on how wrapping up my truck goes.

mine:

bent both tie rod ends at the passenger knuckle, hit a rock right where they bolt together.
both bent and broke front driveshaft letting the truck off the lift at Ryan\'s before leaving.  Not enough spline engagement at full droop, but so far no issues when its rotating.  the splines are bent though and I need to unlock hubs for the street.
intermediate shaft to the divorced cases is too short.

but this was the coolest part :)

Ryan\'s pics.

the rock walked up between the leaf and tire to between the tub and tire.  when the last lug nut came off that thing had some force behind it.

and just for reference thats an 11\" brake drum.  we should have had a camera for that.  the release of the last lug nut was eventful with a 35\" tire launching 3 feet toward me away from the axle...

that fiberglass body just keeps coming back for more...
