Nice week
« on: March 24, 2009, 07:34:41 AM »
Last week was great.
Got the new winch in and installed, then got my new Cooper tires on last Friday.
The truck rides a lot smoother and quieter now, but somehow these tires seem to fill the wheel-well a lot more.
I\'m keeping my eyes out for a decent low-mileage set of the 4-door rubicon springs.  That will give me an inch of lift, while still looking stock to any inquiring Service Managers.

Just need to respool the winch so the line is tight.  I will eventually go with a synthetic line, but for now the steel will have to do.

Next project is going to be installing a 4-switch panel above the rear-view mirror for when I can get some lights.
First up would be a set of stock fog lights (when I can find some cheap).

I attract enough attention with a plate as it is, I\'ll keep mine, thanks.

what\'s wrong with that location? I like it.  The fairlead should do a good job of keeping it from getting too beat up.

NYS VTL requires that all passenger and commercial vehicles have 2 plates, front and rear, be securely affixed, not covered by anything else (inlcuding dirt), and readily visible... etc.

For those who don\'t want to attract unwanted attention.

Like I was telling Jake...there is a flip up license plate holder that bolts to the fairlead.  Let\'s the plate flip outta the way when I need the winch.

The problem with the current location is the fairlead is blocking part of the plate.  you may think it\'s no big deal..but more and more townships are looking for ANY infraction to increase revenue, including ticketing for those stupid plastic dealership plate borders.

I don\'t mind people staring at the Jeep...just not when they\'re a LEO looking for a quick revenue hike.

I run plate frames on both plates on the car.  I\'ll let you know as soon as I get hassled for it.

The way I have the rear plate on the truck the text at the bottom is covered.  Likewise.

I\'ve never heard of anyone getting hassled for plate frames in NY since there\'s nothing on the plate with the stickers on the windshield.

Technically, anything that covers any portion of the plate violates the section of law and the commissioner\'s rules and regs.

To date, I haven\'t heard of anyone being ticketed for the plate frames, either.

I got ticketed once for an \"obstucted rear liscense plate\" of course the statey gave me a break with this ticket. I was actually pulled over for 77 in a 55, in a company truck. That and i have a CDL, and the officer said he would rather not put points on my liscense. Very nice officer!

So there you can\'t say u have NEVER heard of someone getting that ticket.

Oh, and the best part about it was, since it was an \"equipment issue\" my boss paid for the ticket, it was like 115 bux after they added all the court fees in.

Oh, and by the way to the OP that is a real nice lookin JK, but i still wouldn\'t own one.
