Regarding transfercases and suspension lifts..

I am thinking about lifting my 2003 TJs suspension 3\".  I know that I need to consider the angle of my drive shaft.  I\'ve heard of two options a C.V. driveshaft conversion kit or a transfercase lowering kit.  I am a newby and would like to hear an experienced opinion on these two options. All comments are appreciated.

Im not a TJ guy, but what size tire you want to run? 33\"s  35\"s?
I would picture a number you want to spend, and then double that number :)

3\" lift is about the limit that you could get away with no spacer and no CV shaft.  What will tell you is a drivetrain vibration.  Sometimes, it is liveable.  You will probably start eating u-joints.

The cheap and easy way is the T-case lowering spacer that will probably come with the kit.  You will sacrifice ground clearance.

By far, the CV shaft and included T-case SYE output shaft would be the best and most expensive way to go.  Technically difficult but do-able.

I run 2.5\" with no other mod and get a slight vibration at about 40 mph.  I\'m going to live with it until I can install the T-case SYE and CV shaft.

are you lifting for show or for wheeling purposes? 4 show you can use body spacers and bigger tires.

I have had my tj lifted for just over a year now 3.5\" on 33\"s I do not have a SYE kit just the drop spacers I really have had no problems yet . I have not done any hardcore wheeling yet but my next purchase is going to be a SYE kit ( I also put 22,000 miles on my jeep last year so I am going to replace the u-joints soon).

Well I decided since I am going to be replacing the front axle on my TJ I may as well get a lift kit for it. I am going for a 4\" that includes hardware for a transfer case drop. I am going to post this in the project build forum.

Which kit did you buy? The only problem I had with the t-case lowering brackets, was rust. I broke 4 of 6 bolts off in the frame. I have absolutely no vibration at 70. Won\'t go any faster or I would let you know. LOL.

I haven\'t bought a suspension lift yet still looking for a good deal.

So far I have a few potentials:

Rough Country 4\" lift

Superlift 4\" lift

I like the rough country because of the price

I\'ll tell you, I looked at them all when I was deciding. I read hundreds of forums on the rough country, I was very weary that it was a crap product because of the price. I like it very much, but if I had more money to spend I probally would have gone for a superlift product.
