AOAA Showdown in Shamokin 4/14/18
« on: April 19, 2018, 12:32:53 PM »
Many club members and friends headed south to AOAA for the Showdown in Shamokin last weekend.  Here is my brief synopsis.  Many went our separate ways during the day so there should be more reports to follow.

Saturday Ultra 4 Race, 86 degrees and Sunny!  I unfortunately spent a most of the day laying in bed violently throwing up with the worst headache I've ever experienced in my life.  Thanks a million to the mystery Eric that my girlfriend obtained some migraine pills from, I was at about 80% 20min later and made it to the 4400 race.  Erik/Mike in the Torq Locker UTV had a DNF with a broken suspension bolt.  Matt/Joe in the Garofolo Bros buggy came in 10th place in the 4400 class.

Sunday was the Line Mountain race with quite the weather change to 40s with rain and wind.  Mike/Erik in the Last Minute Motorsports buggy finished 10th and Class A.  Changed a shredded tire and tightened a loose tie-rod bolt in the pits.  Matt/Joe in the Garofolo Bros buggy scored a 4th place in Class A, only 16 min behind the leader.

Great job to all racers!  This was my first time at AOAA which is a beautiful spot!  Campground was a little loud in the evenings but that was to be expected lol.  It was great to get out of Rochester, watch some racing, and sit by the fire with some good friends!

I heard on Sunday that there was a handshake between Dave Cole and AOAA guy whose name I don't remember and have completely failed to look up.
