New Off Road Park

Does anyone know what legal hoops you have to go through to start an off road park in NY? What insurance might be required, permits required, and any other info?

I did talk to NYSORVA and they said no permits required in NY, however double checking doesn't hurt. The town board has to be adressed, DEC has to be cleared, and insurance has to be carried on the property. Any other tips or advice in this area?

One of the first things to do is check with your local DEC and get the ok.


If you are looking to have legit events, make sure you have adequate parking and a way to clean off the mud before leaving the park.
In some cases adequate restroom and camping separation is required. The town can shut you down.

Once you have established a good plan you should present it to the town to keep yourself out of potential trouble as well.

Keep everyone in the loop and happy and it will make your life a lot easier.
