AOAA 8/12-13

It was a great weekend. The campground was easy to access and very quiet compared to the parking lot of RC. The staff was quite friendly and accommodating.

Friday, Gif arrived around 5:30p and sMike and I arrived within minutes of each other around 7:30p. Gif missed all of the rain. We drove through some heavy rain and it was on/off for the remainder of the evening, clearing after midnight. We watched the light show from under the awning and easy-up before heading off to sleep.

Saturday, sMike and Gif led our merry band on the Eastern Preserve where we covered a lot of ground. Aside from a minor fuel line issue, all were progressing unscathed. We ran Bee Line, part of UA, Double Black Diamond (opposite Boyscout), and many of the blues. The threat of storms only cut our day short by about an hour. The impending storm only brought a moderate rain and passed in about an hour, leaving us with a very pleasant evening around the campfire.

Sunday, sMike led again and we went over to the Western Preserve. Recently opened and new to all of us, it was fun investigating the trails. We made it out to the overlook and did many of the blue and black trails. Some were pleasantly challenging, even for the buggies. Being required to leave this side by 2p, we all decided that our "fun meters" were reading full and decided to load and head for home.

AOAA is worth the visit. And with camping "on-site" now, it's far more accessible for more than one day rides.
