2010 jk unlimited advice
« on: December 15, 2014, 08:57:46 PM »
I am looking for some friendly opinions. I have found an exceptionally clean, very well maintained 2010 jk for sale. The only catch is it has 221,000 miles on it. Is there any price that would make this worthwhile? Its listed for $15,500 but I'm thinking it would have to be closer to $12k to account for the cost of a new motor when it goes. All thoughts and opinions would be of great help. BTW... I test drove it tonight and was amazed at how well it ran.no hesitation, and no smoke or knocks, I've driven jeeps way worse with a quarter the miles.

If it has a thoroughly documented maint history, it may be OK.  But you'll never get any kind of re-sale return from it because the mileage will only increase.

Everything wears.  Bearings, seats, electronics, everything.  That's a lot of miles for that kind of money.  Don't be afraid to low-ball and walk away.

High miles usually means decent maintenance and easy miles - I don't know the newer Jeep market, but for something that has 221k when something more like 40-50k is expected, a big discount ought to be there and given that I don't think I'd run away based only on miles.

It was purchased, maintained, and traded all at the same dealer. Maintenance was impeccable. The dealer has full records of everything done. Thinking it would be a nice start to a stroker motor.
