Strange question but would anyone by chance have room for four wheels and tires on their trailer?  I am thinking about putting the smaller wheels and tires back on for the drive down there to help with mpg and gearing for the hills.

Can't commit to the trip yet, but I should have room. I'm in Brighton and ALL gains would be lost delivering them to me if you're anywhere near Mark.

Well with the larger tires it kicks down on a flat road due to drag. I really need to get new gears in it then it won't be so bad. Also I lost about 6 mpg with the bigger tires. That's a lot of gas on a 300 mile trip lol. But I will just tough it out I guess lol. It is a jeep after all and not a Prius.

The coming from route 15 or off of i80 you will come through shamokin and up a hill to the park, that's not bad but after you crest
That hill (rt125) and head to campsite it's sketchy to
Say the least , if you come
From 81 you can take 901 over and into lower road straight to camp site but then you still hafta climb the hill to the park , so either way if you go between park and campsite you are using the hill, be safe I might see ya Saturday if any of you are gonna be at aaoa still I will come for the day, wingman: if any of you commit to Saturday I'll pick them up at the park if not I will meet you on route 15 or where ever

Also I lost about 6 mpg with the bigger tires

Is that actual calculated mileage, with the trip distance corrected for the change in tire size? That seems extraordinary if so  :o

I used google street view for the route from the park to the campground. It's about 5 miles, most is double line country road. There's a small section through a coal town with on-street parking. One hairpin that seems really wide and easy. The google street view was following a SUV with a landscape trailer through the hairpin, LOL. I think we turn off 125 before the bad hills and turns.

fyi, I'm talking about Earhday Campground, not Rausch creek park. To get to Rausch to from AOAA I would suggest going back to 901 through town and take the regular route to Rausch.

Yeah. You have to remember I have a severily underpowered 3.7l v6 attached to a 3 sp (4 OD) auto. That plus damn near 5000lb and the design of a brick. And the extra ~200lbs from bumper and winch. Extra rolling resistance with increased wheel/tire weight and it all adds up a whole lot of not fun lol. I travel Clifton to Henrietta for work. I get 3 trips on a full tank of 18 gallons.

I lost a solid 3 going to 37's. Up to 35's it didn't care one bit. Once past that happy point- no bueno.

Great trip report Wingman!

Potential is what describes the AOAA right now. There is a solid three days of wheeling for the average offroader without hitting the same trail twice thanks to the help of many dedicated volunteers. Some of the rock crawling trails have been in existence for 13 years! We saw 4 newly flagged trails still to be cut. Give it a few years and there will be a massive trail system for full size 4x4's. Right now there is an existing extensive system for ATV's and dirt bikes.

Erik and I took notes for a constructive criticism email I will send to the AOAA board. Understanding that the park is just starting out, I want to give some feedback on ways they can move forward to make the experience more enjoyable for patrons. We would also like to volunteer with trail mapping, planning and cutting - maybe two or three weekends a year.

I  made a hybrid map for OHV's - see link for full res file
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pxvq15qu2q2ml58/AOAA%20Map%20-%20OHV%20Trails.jpg?n=139350215

Yellow = haul roads, aka wide enough for jeeps, Orange = OHV trails. There are more trails to add to this map that we found on sunday, but this is a great starting point.
