I\'m thinking of buying some re-treads from TreadWright, any one have opinions.

I\'m thinking a set of these:

Funny you should ask...

I just installed my 6th set; 2nd for the wife\'s Yukon XL Warden AT).  Literally, I just got home from the shop!  Best I can figure, 40k+ miles from the last set!  Be sure to ask for matching carcasses.

All previous sets \"balanced\" with Equal, this time I had standard balance done.

I\'ve had D-Mud, Backbone (D-Mud w/spacer), Guard Dog, Warden, Green Diamond...

I still say they are well worth the $avings!

Here is a link to the review.

I run 31-10.5-15 Kedge grip Guard Dogs on my CJ7, 15k miles on them in the last year with no issues.

I absolutely love them in the snow, better in 2wd than the original Big-O- M/T where when new in 4X.. No complaints off road, great in the rocks, woods and mud.

Tread wear has been great, rotated once at around 7k. Road noise is the same as when new, tread still soft and compliant.

I\'ve changed my build plans around available tire sizes, for the value and performance of these tires I\'ll stay with the 31\'s instead of 33\'s like I had originally planned.  Or I may end up going to some 16\" wheel for some bigger summer play tires from Tread Wright but I\'ll keep the 31\'s for winter,

I\'ll keep buying them as long as they keep making them,,  will be getting a set for whatever I end up deciding on as our winter beater,,  still looking at Pathfinders/Cherokees etc//

Mike are you questioning the size of my Rubber? ;)

They are for my XJ with a 1.5\" budget boost.
The only major upgrades I\'m going to make on the xj are a new set of tires, Aussi locker in the front, and a disc kit for the rear. Every thing I\'ve seen on line says the 235s will fit without rubbing. I might be able to try a set of 30x9.5 to see what I get.
Wingman thanks for the info, have you tried the crawlers?

-Ian

Have not tried the Crawlers.  Looks like a decent, aggressive, (and noisy) tread pattern!

SO I got my new tires mounted and they look really good on the xj. The cores are all matched BFGoodrich T/As. They did not require too much weight to balance but the run out could have been a bit better. On the road? Well these are off-road tires, they would not be my first choice for a road race. The steering feel is a bit delayed. They do howl a bit on the road, but not too bad. I have high hopes for the trail ride this weekend. I\'m still glad I got them.
More to follow.....

the tires i just put on my dodge have the \"delayed\" steering like your driving a boat!

i have been told it will get better after some miles and they break in!

These tires kicked but at the 4x4 101!
I am very happy with how I did, especially with all the slime on the trails. I did not air down, since I\'m paranoid about popping a bead. The tread is very soft and I may relegate this set to winter/offroad only.

I\'m glad I got them, and I\'d go back to Treadwright again.

For the guys that have the Guard Dogs how well do they clear out?
Even with 430hp BFG A/T don't clear out very good.
