Project JEEPWERX Buggy
« on: November 29, 2010, 09:54:04 PM »
We found this chassis for sale on the web while traveling down the Massachusetts turnpike Wednesday night on the way to Boston. I wasnt looking to purchase a new chassis at this exact moment in time, but once we arrived at the shop which was located 2 miles off the turnpike, I quickly realized this was exactly what I had been looking for.

Full Tilt Fabrication is a small Custom Fab shop located in Westfield Mass. The owner was building this as his personal buggy. For whatever reason, he decided to part it all out. However he really wasnt planning to sell the chassis until we called and showed up with CASH.

Its a Single seat, rear engine, \"Shannon Campbell style\" chassis
set up for 3 link with panhard bar front and rear
1.5\" .120 wall dom tube
106\" Wheel Base
chassis is 44\" wide x 45\" tall x 106 \" long
some welding is finished, but most of the joints are only tacked

My plan is to build it to KOH rules. Trying to keep it under 3200 lbs

2.2 Ecotech Motor (maybe turbo)
Gasoline
Automatic Transmission (no choice yet)
Atlas T-Case
Spyder 9\'s front and rear (long term)
Coilovers
air bumps
aluminum links
aluminum bead lock wheels
40\"x13.5\"x17\" Maxxis sticky Trepadors

yes we sure did get some funny looks.
It wasnt until we got back to the shop did i realize we were nearly 10ft high. the buggy nearly hit the 10ft overhead door to the shop when i parked it sat night.
not much wind drag though. :burnout:

Does AA offer a reverse gear T-case? For a Rear engine buggy so I wouldn\'t have to flip the axles.

Flipping axles is fun, then you have hi-pinion.

3200 is not a hard rule right now, but who knows in the future.....

I also learned that cam-lock harnesses are illegal in Ultra 4/KOH racing.

Ecotech, Turbo 350 and a 205 is a bulletproof combo. With 4cyl power breaking parts wont be too much of an issue.   :-D

i just put my 4th TH350 in this year, bullet proof is a relative term in ultra4 racing....

9\"s wont hold to a healthy motor and 40\"s unless you want 10K between both hubs front AND rear.  simple.

9s are fine with a 4 popper.  maybe even with a lung.  not so much when you get into the 400+hp area, then it\'s 60/70/14b in my opinion.  maybe the super 14 will come back to life, there\'s also the sixty9 coming down the pike.  you can stuff Toyota junk in fabricated housings with beefier outers too.

I like fabricated housings; [relatively] big weight can be saved in the hubs on anything.... I don\'t have a favorite axle choice out there, in large part because the 14b is so darn big.  I want the super 14!

yea...Ill most likely be well under 300 hp with the 2.2

Everything is contingent on budget and time if I have any hope of making the RCQ on May 21st.
