Off for some out-of-state offroading

What is becoming a yearly habit now, my folks are flying me out to Phoenix AZ for the annual Jeep Jamboree being sponsored by their local Jeep dealer.

http://www.airparkdodgechryslerjeep.com/jamboree/index.htm

Two years ago I got the singular pleasure of lightly pin-striping both sides of my dad\'s new 2008 2-door Wrangler (less than 5k miles on it).

This year, they\'ve upped the stakes and I get to drive their new 2010 4-door Jeep Wrangler Mountain Edition on the trails.

Parents never learn.   :)

Flying out next Thursday, and the event is on Saturday.  This year they plan on hitting the trails up near the Lake Pleasant area north of Phoenix.

Hopefully I\'ll have lots of pics of the saguaro cacti with Jeeps around them.

Well...I\'m back from sunny and 105 degree Phoenix.
The Jeep Jam 5 was an awesome time.  got a pair of Jacks in the Poker Run (not sure if I actually won anything).
My father\'s new 4-door Mountain Edition Jeep Wrangler performed flawlessly on the trails.  Climbing over every obstacle with ease.  i didn\'t even pinstripe it this time.
the only thing I noticed is the 4-door has a slightly higher tendency to high-center, but I knew that going into it.  The first downhill on the trail had a very sharp breakover point, and i told my dad there might be a slight scraping.  Right at that moment, the front wheels started down and we felt the skid plate grinding on the ridge.
But no damage done.

After the trails, it was back to Airpark Jeep for a nice BBQ, some live music, and a tour of all the vendors that stopped by.  i almost bought some vision-X LED offroad lights for my light bar, but didn\'t have the funds.
There were also some kewl privately owned Jeeps there (obviously) but I think my fav was an old FC 170 cabover.

I\'ll get more pics later, but here are two as a teaser.

And me next to a Saguaro cactus:

Cool stuff, looks a lot like Sycamore Creek, my old stomping grounds until 2005..

Seeing that makes me miss the desert but I only miss the wheeling not the city life that goes along with living in the Valley.
