I really, really, really have buggy fever.
I\'m thinking KOH legal, 400-500 hp, medium size 2 seater, still rec wheelable, 105-108 wheel base, set back front engine or set forward rear. would like to be under 3000# wet, and would like ballpark 55/45 weight bias.
L92 6.2L with a cam is my first choice, probably a 6l80 backing it, with a 3:1ish low probably from an Atlas, fabricated axle housings of some sort with enough gears to need the overdrive (6:1 ish) in high rapping it out. I\'d love propane but I think I need to go with gasoline and computer controls to be where I want to be.
low unsprung weight, great suspension, balanced steering. I want a top speed at Rausch of at least 90mph, I\'d like to hit 100 on the straits like the back side of the west property.
More of a muffler than Doug or Shannon run 8)
aaaand here are the stupid ideas:
- stressed skin, probably bonded aluminum to save over unneeded gussets and X bracing esp in firewall areas
- maybe chromo tubing, at very least some different materials sizes and thicknesses for different duties
- geometry set best for rec wheeling and KOH style racing on 40s or so, second set of shorter coilovers tuned for low running on 33s to clean up at Line Mountain and other obstacle type events, maybe even SCCA rallycross too... Gotta get maximal use out of it after all
- some means of sealing up the cockpit and running heat & wipers for winter and rain rec wheeling
- I\'d sure love to plate it
This is a long term thing, I\'m too broke to do anything just yet. this will be well-planned, and built right the first time. I\'m thinking 3 year timeline, summer 2013 completion. I need to magic some money between now and then.
