As far as when we can do this install & tune session.  I may have time May 22/23, June 19/20.  Most of my weekends are booked.

It\'s going to have to be at a place with electricity, because I\'m guessing there\'s going to have to be coax soldered, or power connections soldered.

It\'d be good if everyone can at least get the mounting of the radio, power run correctly, grounds connected, and antenna mount done before that day.  Tuning the antenna doesn\'t take very long, unless it\'s the type that needs to be trimmed, then it\'s a little longer.

A weeknight GOF type of thing would be nice. At a large parking lot or something like that. Power inverter for electric. Just tossing out ideas.

This is a place I bookmarked. Has gotten excellent reviews on other forums. Thought I would share. Lots of good info on there.

I\'ve heard of Sparky\'s before.  A couple other places to shop are:

http://www.bobscb.com/
http://store.valcoelectronics.com/
http://www.palcoelectronics.com/
http://www.uniden.com/products/productlisting.cfm?cat=CB%20Radios

The radio I recommend for just about everyone is the Pro510XL.
http://www.unidendirect.com/itemdetail.cfm?item=B-PRO510XL

$30 plus shipping for a refurbished unit, can\'t go wrong.  I bought one years ago, and the thing looked brand new.  They\'re small, don\'t have many knobs, and they work.  Never an issue with ruggedness or quality.  The stock mic is an electret condenser mic, so a power mic is not needed.

How about a weeknight, GOF style like Ryan suggested?
We can use my shop, or maybe we could all meet @ custom truck creations in fairport

I moved Cora\'s power suppply & ground from the fuse block to the battery and quality was greatly improved. Just need to install inline fuse!

And, it\'s good to install fuses on BOTH the +12v and ground lines, even though no CB\'s ever do that.  Most ham radios are double fused, and sometimes triple.  (two on the +12v, not sure why).

Another good idea is to bulk up on engine to chassis grounds.  Not only will it help with noise, you may notice that your engine will run better.  It\'s a bigger difference with older vehicles, generally the factory grounds (if they\'re even still there) will be barely working.  4 or 8 gauge wire should be used.

I don\'t think I\'ll have a free night this week, maybe we can set something up in the next week or two.

I agree on checking / replacing the engine ground.
But never heard of fuse on the ground. Would that be to protect the radio in case of ground fault? Makes sense.
Keep us updated on your schedule. I\'m pretty open weeknights for the time being!

Work has been driving me to the edge of my sanity the past several weeks.  I guess the good news is that September looks a little better.  I really need to pick a date and stick to it.
