the elapsed time to blow up is unexpected. Also, the heat increase due to a chemical reaction is also very unexpected. Very good to know.

Me neither. No more torches on frozen lug nuts.
no more igniting  A flamable gas to seat a bead (I have never personally done that, but have witnessed it)

Crazy!

very good point on the flammable gas - that could raise the internal air temperature enough to start the chemical chain reaction that leads to blow up.

I suppose that is what causes trailer tires to fail?  Tires are designed to handle a little bit of heat but there is a fine line, I guess.

sheesh!

they had us watch a similar video, but with smaller vehicle tires during training when i got a job at a tire bay.  you are also not supposed to put more than 40psi in a tire to seat the bead.  i have a lot of experience mounting tires with a few different kinds of machines, i was always thinking about making sure that never happened.  i\'m happy to say it never did.

interesting video, cool to see stuff like that happen in a controlled environment.  kind of like setting off an airbag in a controlled environment, in one of my automotive classes the teacher set off an airbag (it was bolted to a bench). seeing stuff like that in person gives a different perspective.  here\'s an airbag throwing a speaker high in the air (don\'t try this at home) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1iJlPdc6EY&feature=related
