I should clean up the 18s I have for the car and have them powder them instead of painting them.  ought to be a much more durable finish for $100 total but I\'ve already got the paint...  smeh.

someday I\'ll finish the blasting and give Ryan his gun back too.  Maybe on days off over christmas if the weather cooperates :)

Hauling the toyota :-D.  Its much more leveled out with the leveling kit out, but still needs a little more in the back.  Undecided on going with air bags or a wd hitch, any suggestions?
Title: Re: 08 Titan
Post by: MrMindless on April 19, 2010, 09:47:36 AM
WD hitch.  \'bags are a bandaid on a lighter duty truck whereas a WD hitch evens out the load and puts some weight on the front of the truck.  Improves stability greatly.

you can test drive mine.

Black head light mod. These are some cheap headlights I bought for a practice set, they came from vegas so the lenses are pretty beat up. Will be working on my stock set soon...well someday haha

I borrowed mindless\'s WD hitch for the trip to VA.  Worked great, leveled the truck out and much better handling and ride.  I\'ve never had any sway problems so I cant speak for that, but definite improvement if anyones thinking about one.

Trucks in the body shop as we speak, poor thing.

That old set was suppose to be just a practice set, but I somehow managed to lose the stock set somewhere during my apartment living days.  New set was the first set I've ever find that didn't have a bunch of nonsense led's or halo's in them.

Common on Titans for the rear axle vent to stick and blow out axle seals.  I ripped the cap of off the stock unit and it gassed air out for 5 minutes.

Been thinking about trading in for a mid size, but, it seems a used Tacoma or Frontier of same age and mileage are worth substantially more than this truck for some reason ::).  Planning on some camping/over-landing type upgrades soon  ;D

Looking good thus far.  No sign of water leaks after the rain.  Power supply works.  Need to test out fridge and heater.  Previous owner said heat worked, thinks fridge broke.  No sign of in camper battery, kinda confused on that...  Ordered one new jack to replace a 4x kinked unit.  Not happy with Torklift frame mount tie-downs.  One bolt in front, one up high, and the tie-down is in the rear.  Torque is applied opposite the bolts and it pulls away from the frame.

New jack installed.
Battery added.
Made my own tie down mounts.
Water pump MIA, ordered.
Heater fan comes on but doesn't ignite.  Google says the sail switch is a common failure.
Fridge works on propane.

Built new wiring harness between the truck and camper.
Water pump installed.
100ah deep cycle and 100W solar panel ordered!
Furnace sail switch is OK, have power into the circuit board but not out.  Finally found the manual online, have a couple more things to check.
Found some water damage in the front drivers corner of the bunk that will need to be attended to when it warms up.

The heat is on!  While troubleshooting, power cycled a few times, the igniter started working and after a couple more cycles the gas valve opened and it fired up.

Two new shiny jacks.  Added a fourth jack because three is dumb!  Removed water tank for more storage space.  I found it a pita to fill, use, drain the tank.  I'll just use my 6 gal water jugs.  New sink trap and hose.

Many trips have been had!  Moved the solar panel to the roof.  The one battery has been plenty for charge electronics and run fans or the furnace all night.  Front deck of the camper was rebuilt to repair the water damage.  All seams and windows were resealed.  Crank up vent added.  Abandon the fridge for an RTIC cooler, it was very temperamental and couldn't keep up at >90*.

The Titan has hit 165k and is starting to fall apart haha.  New rear shocks (disintegrated), front struts and coils (broken coil), serpentine belt, cat back exhaust, rear axle seals both sides, brake lines, all rotors, rear calipers, ebrakes, ebrake cables, headlights (faded on inside), complete fluid service.  I'm sure some other things I forgot.  With that said, I've done very little to the truck up until this point, it's been a good truck.
