Title: New to the forum! (Rochester)
Post by: CheersToGears on January 21, 2016, 08:40:45 AM
Hello All!

I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd just say hello. I am interested in being a club member as well but we will see.

About me:

I'm a complete and utter newbie to the 4x4 scene  :-\
I honestly would have no clue what I'm doing on a trail but, I am looking to learn a thing or two (that's where you guys come in hopefully!)

I purchased a 2015 JKUR last March and so far, its the best purchase I've ever made. Now, before you all flame me for buying an expensive offroad machine with no experience in the matter, I did have my reasons. #1 overall was because I'm a gear engineer. I know the nuances of axles (specifically) and I know very well the differences between a 44 and a 30. So for me, there was no question just based off of that. #2 I wanted it. End of story.

Anyway, since purchase, I've done some super basic modifications:
- Removed crappy plasticy bumper cover (garbage)
- Chopped Factory sub bumper to a "shorty" length
- Welded factory fog holes closed
- Smittybilt SRC fenders
- Rugged Ridge Rear Tube Bumper (Not currently on vehicle but I craigslisted it for $25 dollars so I really couldn't pass it up)

Anyway, thats all for now! Hope to meet some good people to teach me a thing or two!

Oh and this is kinda cool. Custom pulley system I made to remove the hardtop (takes about 11 minutes alone)!

Welcome to the forum!  There is plenty of knowledge in the club, from "rec"(-reation) to race.  Things get a bit more active once spring rolls around.

The Rubicon is a great platform with nearly unlimited aftermarket support.  It was a solid choice.  Besides, reason #2 was sufficient.

Peruse the topics and gallery and enjoy!
