8k is plenty for a TJ, synthetic rope is better but wire cable is cheaper.

Why is it better no wire splinters

Safer.  Doesn't store energy like the wire.  If it were to break, it just falls to the ground instead of slingshoting the hook and wire around.

Just get a cover for it.  The synthetic is susceptible to UV rays.

The only up side to wire is more abrasion- and UV-resistant. Synthetic doesn't rust though, so its almost a push there.

Many synthetics will include 10' of a nylon jacket for abrasion and top layer sun cover. Some high end are fully jacketed but you're gonna pay for that.

Did you mean steel or synthetic? i think rope and synthetic are the same thing.

steel ropes are extremely durable compared to synthetic but the good thing about the latter is it doesn't rust plus its easy to handle and i think weigh lesser.
