Barring any unforseen difficulties, I intend on being here for this one.  I've enjoyed every 4x4 101 I've been to, and expect the same from this one.

Still no preregistration, or am I not seeing it some where else?

Also does registration cover the park fee or is that extra?

Thanks,

The registration will cover the park fee as well as lunch and should cover a shirt and sticker for the driver.   Preregistration page should be finished and approved by Tuesday and will operate though eventbrite

Hey folks. First time of roader here.

Mrs and I bought a Jeep TJ as a "mid life crisis". Previous owner gave us the extras from his off roading including 33x12s that I have stacked in the garage. I have 31x9.5s on there now and don't know if it is smart to put the 12s on or just stick with the 9.5s for our inaugural event. Jeep has a 3" lift so clearance isn't an issue. Just looking for a recommendation.

Looking forward to meeting you all as well as adding a little dirt and a few dings to make the Jeep "ours".

Welcome Jaysen!

Tires are a preference thing.  My recommendation is that you'll have more fun with whichever has better/more aggressive tread.  There'll be some mud...

I'm not sure either are real mud tires (no lugging like I'd expect). I'll take a second look though.

Thanks.

For all those that care about your paint job and need your vehicle buffed after playin, let me know, I can get you looking good again, cheap(don't worry, I'm a professional). Might be bringing the K5. Traded the Tj for a 74 stingray.

There educational part of the event in the morning as well as food will be under cover.   The rest of the days wheeling will be in your vehicle unless you choose to get out and chat.

Front and rear tow points and a spare tire are what we require for this event in addition to seatbelts that function. If you have a cb, recovery strap, extra parts, fire extinguisher, etc. that's gravy.   We will have lots of rigs with equipment and skills to fix most anything.

OK.  I'm lacking the gravy but got the minimums.  With all this rain I'm liable to get stuck in the mud  ;D

I think I better run power to the rear of the truck tonight so I can use the winch back there too.

Hey folks. As you can tell, I've not done much off road or more than basic car stuff before. That said I need to know if any of the old school folks bring tools will have the tool to take a rounded lug off.

Short version: decided to be the 33x12.5 on because of the rain and discovered one lug that was smaller. Didn't notice in time and managed to round it off. Already have the replacement lug. Also have the 3 other tires swapped.

I'll try to hit my mechanic first thing, but am hoping that someone can bail me out if he isn't available.

Excellent time at the 4x4 101 again!
Kudos to Eric and whomever was driving the built TJ for preventing body damage to my JK.  Never having driven something this heavy in mud, I was not really ready for the trail conditions, but the guys in group 2 were awesome at explaining what I needed to do.

Now....once these stock tires are dead, is there a size ratio that would be better for this kind of terrain that would not kill the JK as a daily driver?
I had 285/75 R16 Cooper Discoverer STTs on my previous Jeep and don't remember having that much trouble in mud.  Or is it just that the JKU is so big and heavy?

Anyway, thanks for once again putting this event on.

wouldn't have considered BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires to be street tires.  :)

I'll just wait til these are dead and go back to the Coopers.

By normal people standards they wouldn't be considered a street tire.   But in a 32 inch  compared to some pitbull rockers or Goodyear MTR's that are bigger its just less aggressive.   Mindless runs some 42 inch ones from interco.   Some statements are relative to the community your in.
