Title: 2005 Rubicon Tires / Rims help
Post by: combatmedic on January 31, 2012, 09:52:04 AM
2005 rubicon

4 inch lift
1 inch BL

I need new rims and tires i want to use on the Trail / DD use.  I want a wider aggressive stance, but also acceptable for trail use

33x12.5 on a 15x 8 with 3 3/4 backspace or 15x 10 with 4 inch backspace?

or

35x13.5 on a 15x10?

thanks

I'd definitely go for the 35s, you should have plenty of room for them with 4+1.

Agreed,  but stick with 8.5. My 10's are stupid wide and more susceptible to rock rash.

35's on 8" wheel is the way to go!

will the 35s be to much with a 6 speed rubicon.  i know the stock gears are 4:10 so that should be enough, just dont want to ruin my low end power andhigh end power on expressway

I agree with smike.

I run 35's on 8" with my TJ 4.0 and 4.10 gears. its not a rocket ship by any means but works very well for me.

There's a couple of us running that exact setup. It's perfect off road and on road the rpm's are more tolerable.

35's and 4:10's work well on road and off, that is what many of us are running.

my xj has 3.07's and 35's.  5th gear is only for downhill tailwind conditions.

pulls well in 4 gears and does fine.

its all how you drive and where you tolerance is.

thanks for the info... i found out what rim i want, now i need to chose between a 4.0, 3.75. 3.50 or 2.75 backspace.  i want my tires to have a wider stance because i will not be running a 10 inch rim, but i don't want it to look goofy either

thanks
