I'm thinking grab Carter car and drop at your shop this week, and drop the CT patient when I get home probably Sunday.

absoulty..
I had a FP for it assuming I would find a vin tag...

if you remember Mike.. this is the one you drove off the trailer.. so it dit run, ran well actually..

Plan is...

Take Motor out of white one to put in Blue one

Blue one is a 91 (different intake and belt drive)

Dress White motor with Blue motor bits

Drive blue truck away, part white truck out... or be it sombodys next wheeling toy.

whats the reason to not keep the serp belt system?  i hate V belts!

either way probably not an issue.

Sounds good ill pull the motor out of the white one tonight
Title: Re: MJ motor swap
Post by: rejeep on December 30, 2011, 01:17:24 PM
i thought the white one would be V belt...
if its not its not an issue.. biggest problem would be a pully swap on the Alt..

white one is serp belt, and its trashed

yeah, I would.. motor ran fine.. will run fine again...

once we get both patients up there I'll come over and we can figure out what needs to be carried over.. I think its prob just going to be the manifold..

if we need parts, I know where to get them..

that actually was about 5X more work that i anticipated. lol

intake, exhaust, balancer, flywheel, clutch, water neck, valve cover, alternator, power steering, water pump, idler, serp belt, passenger side motor mount, distributor and im sure alot more was all swapped.   doner motor was a TBI motor, this was a portinjected truck....

only common items was oil pressure sensor, and rear temp sensor.  EVERYTHING else had to come off.

took three tries after guessing but she cranked after i finially broke down and pulled a plug to set the distributor.

Runs good, took her for a spin around my work complex last night.  brakes and clutch good, bangs through all 5 gears like a 4cly2wd wonder!

nice truck!

Post by: smichaelR22 on January 03, 2012, 11:26:37 AM
and putting a port injectected truck back together that you didnt take apart is always fun!

Arie you can thank the seller though for leaving all the parts and hardware in relativity organized and complete piles- it really wasn't to bad, just time consuming.

Jim's a good guy..
not some random seller..
only thing wrong with the orignial motor is the head gasket blew and the #1 piston might need to be replaced..

i think when you see it, and the color and content of the fluids in it, you might change your statement  :/
