Title: 1979 f150 custom steering question
Post by: rjeepr on July 03, 2011, 01:41:03 PM
I have a 79 f150 with the 351 winsor and a T19 4 speed that I am making my plow truck/ tow truck. Its been sitting for 10 years now, but ran good when it was parked. The peoblem I\'m having is the fact that it has manual steering. I want to put power steering in it. I have the lmc catolog for the power steering parts. Does anyone know how hard it is to convert? Does the steering colum have to b replaced? Or does anyone know an easier way of putting in power steering? I\'m not really a ford guy more of an anti ford guy really. Just know this perticular ford was dependable and powerful

In most cases it\'s a matter of unbolting the manual box and putting on a power assist box in its place and mounting & plumbing the pump....  Can\'t swear to it in this case though.

that sounds like a LOT of things that will need attention before a steering box!
