Title: 97 gcl rear breaks binding grinding
Post by: rjeepr on June 28, 2011, 11:26:05 PM
Ok weirdest :censor: happen. Wife calls says the jeep is grinding. I go check it out and the rear passenger disc was grinding. Took breaks apart and everything looked ok. WTF!? So I drove it and there is some serious grinding or binding of some sort. First happened in reverse. Sounded like something was about to snap! Pulled forward and it just sounded like break grinding but there r no wear marks in the rotor and still a quarter good pad left on both sides. Any ideas?

Theee is no grind marks in the rotor. With all the grinding I heard there has to b some nasty grind marks. But can\'t find anything grinding. Is ther something in the axle itself by the pass rear tire that could b grinding and binding up? I hear a bang and clunk here nd there too. But can\'t find anything damaged

the ebrake is actually inside the \"hat\" of the rotor so you will not be able to see anything until you take the rotor off.  I am assuming once you remove the rotor the e-brake pieces will fall out because they are broken.

Hmm. I will take off the rotor when the wife gets home. She\'s not driving it, I have the lil man during the day

Took off the rotor and out fell twisted remains of my ebrake! Thank for te info. This was my first rear disc brake, and didn\'t even think about how the ebrake was set up. Thanks all
