Title: LED Cordless Rechareable Work Light Test
Post by: AussieLocker on April 12, 2010, 03:55:16 PM
We have been given 2 62 LED and 2 32 LED rechargeable work lights for market evaluation and tests.  The company wants us to sell these products to the off road marketplace for use on the trail, etc.  We have them for a couple of weeks and then we have to either keep them and sell them or return them to the company.  If anyone is interested in testing a light, we would want their candid opinion direct to us as to the products fit with the needs on the trail and in the garage.  As noted we will need them back after two weeks.

Drop me a note at bill@aussielocker.com if you want to test one.  If we have more interested than we have lights we will draw names.

Thanks

Bill

Bill, i would be happy to take one down to Rausch Creek or Virginia for a weekend coming up.

i acutally just bought a cheap one from wallmart for 20$ that im pleased with.  came with rechargable internal battery with a car (12V) charger and a wall (120V) charger.

i use it for trailer light at night and general purpose around the camp site.  small, compact and rechargable were a must for me.  It lives in the truck, and i have found many uses since my Ryobe light got left on the truck and smashed as i pulled out of my driveway :(

Send my your mail address and I will get one sent to you tomorrow.  I think the \"claim to fame\" here is the LED light source for long life and being rugged for use on the trail.  It is pricey but they asked we test it so giving it a trial run this weekend sounds good.

Send the address to bill@aussielocker.com

I\'ll be sending you a note, Bill.  I\'ve loved (and eventually killed a fair share of) most every kind of LED light out there.  I\'ve got plenty of shop work to do in the next couple weeks, and am planning on Rausch this coming weekend and Big Dogs the weekend after.

It seems that most work I end up doing on either of my jeeps is after dark. I dont go as far and wide as everyone else but should be able to give a good review of use in the dark driveway cramed under a jeep.

Our cost on the 32 LED model is $ 32.65 and for the 62 LED model it is $ 41.05.  To return the light please use the box it was sent in and make it as grease free as possible.

Thanks

Mine is still going strong. Its has become the favorite light in the shop. However a few complaints after using it for a few months now:

1) Manufacturer states you cannot leave it charging for more than 3 hours or it will damage the battery.

2) When the battery dies it does not slowly get less bright, it instantly shuts off.   (lithium ion ?)

3) The removable magnetic holder is nice for underhood or working with a vehicle on the lift, but when you leave it stuck under the dash... its harder to find because it doesnt roll around when you drive down the road.   :nono:

I have dropped this light so many times i cant keep track, and it still going strong. I still like this light very much, and will buy another if I ever need to replace this one!

Mine has even been slammed in the buggy hood and bent about 20?, no issues at all.

I love this light but I can\'t stand the instant-off.  It has to do with the regulated voltage.  It NEEDS a red warning light or something when it\'s getting low.  It is by far the most versatile and durable trouble light I\'ve ever had but the 64 LED version will not last through a full night of work, I think I get somewhere around 4-6 hours out of it, and it dies all at once and will NOT turn back on.

That\'s a fatal flaw in an otherwise nearly perfect light.  If it had an interchangeable battery with a smart charger it would get an 11, or even a 12/10.  as it is, this is a big deal for me and I have to only give it a 7.5/10 just due to dead light frustration.

On the positive side it did come with 12v and 120v chargers, and will run off the charger when dead, but the wires are short and light duty: Not intended for that sort of use.
