I purchased 2 Aussie Lockers for my 85 CJ7 few years ago. Im running Dana 30 and AMC 20. This locker was my first locker install. So needless to say, I was slightly apprehensive. But Bill Cole from Aussie Locker offered any technical support I many need.

To my surprise, i found their installation instructions very precise and clear. (My father writes technical publications and installation instructions for a living) So im very critical of these documents.

Everything went smoothly, and I completed the install in about 3 hours for both axles. I was pleased to find that they have very good road manners. I only experienced a short amount of tire chirping, that i attributed to break-in. It does seem necessary to keep the tire pressure equal from left to right to avoid chirping on dry pavement, But I would imagine thats the situation with every locker.

I\'m very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a world class locker for a low end price.

I have definitely put these to the test on some of the toughest trails I have found in the North East.

Just a quick question about the amc 20 install. Did you have to pull the axles to get the Aussie in? I have a stock carrier in my 83cj7 and need to regear soon, I\'ve heard nothing but good about the Aussies and might give it a go.Thanks

ya gota pull the shafts on the 20.  We did pauls in about an hour.

yes, i have aussies in both my d30 and amc 20 like erik and am also very happy with them.  like mike and erik said, installs were nice and easy and went smoothly.  mine were put in at different times, but combined was probably around the same time erik said.  

i give aussie lockers a 10 also

A 10 from me as well.  I had an aussie in the front of my truck when I still had a D44, it outlasted quite a few broken axles including chromolies.  

Sadly no 1 ton applications yet, so I\'ve got a non-Aussie in it for now.

But really, dont tell Bill i dont check clearances and just slap them in-  no issues in my rear 44.  with 35\" tires i went from 35mph to 0 mph in about 15\' when my ring and pinion locked up from a blown pinion bearing-  locker laughed at that and no issues.

I forgot that smike was running an Aussie when his ring & pinion locked up.
Thats proof in it self!

 Well i can\'t speak for the locker itself yet, but i will give Bill at Aussie a 10 for meeting me at MY convienance, and giving me a deal on what everyone says it a stellar product. I can\'t wait to get the front one installed and get out and try both of them! :burnout1:
 I would definatly recommend the aussie just by the way i was treated and the way Bill saeems to care about each customer.

+11 from me. (and yes, due to me being a pain in the arse customer, they get an extra +1)

My experience with Aussie\'s cust-service has been top notch.  So you\'ll get +10 for that alone.  I had ordered D30/D35 lockers, and before they shipped, I had axle problems and got a 8.8 rear.

I emailed them and explained I had axle troubles in my D35, and rather than fix the 35, I am going to an 8.8 with LSD.  Without a hassle, they canceled my rear locker and refunded my $$ for it in a very prompt manor.  No questions asked.  What company does that for their customers?  Seriously... Even when the company wasn\'t making money, in fact, they were kinda losing a sale, they gave me top notch service.

Ironically, my wife just bought a 2000 XJ with a D35 rear, so I\'ll be reordering that rear locker lol.  But had my experience with cust-service been different on canceling y TJ\'s rear locker order, I\'d probably go with another locker.  But since they were so kick ass and awesome with me, I\'ll gladly go back and order another locker and give them an 11 out of 10 for excellence.

2000 xj with a d35,you sure?in 96\' pretty sure all xj\'s switched to the chrysler 8.25

I\'m not 100% but it\'s got a rubber drain cap like my 03 TJ has, and I\'m sure it\'s a turdy5 under it.

They had both after 96, but most had the 8.25. Most recognizable by the flat spot on the bottom of the diff.

I also give this product a 10. I recently installed one in the front end of my tj, It was used and it was run hard before i had it, i was a little concerned because i saw the damage to the front axle of the vehicle it came out of. Carrier and ring and pinion didn\'t hold up but this locker did, it is currently functioning flawlessly. Install was easy, if it wasn\'t for my own stupidity, the last spring popped out and flew over my shoulder. 1 and 1/2 hours looking for it, finally found it in my yard with a magnet. At any rate, i have only locked into 4wd twice since the install.Once to verify it worked, took the jeep around the corner to climb a hill, where i would normally be stuck spinning two tires didn\'t happen, had left rear tire about 18 inches off the ground when i decided that was high enough, the second time i was climbing on another truck tire, my tj on 31\'s climbed on top of a 36 like it was nothing. A little spinning of the rear tires at about 3/4 of the way up, where it would have stayed if not for the locker. I know it really isn\'t smart to lock up my dana 35 in the rear due to breakage but i cant wait to do it.
