I like it, more modern looking

looked good from home, with only a few issues.

you cant read the info under a persons avitar.

now that im at work, its has a few layout problems.

the menus on the home page (and on every page stretch across the entire screen from left to right.  below, the forum section now takes up 2/3 the width of the screen with blank area on the right.

also, what happened to the mudnuts splash anywhere on the site :)

XP pro, on the lasted deployed IE.

Looks good with the colors of the outdoors but contrast is lacking that the old skin had.  The old skin also expanded to wide screen, the new doesn\'t...
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: smichaelR22 on January 18, 2010, 05:15:27 AM
another issue that bothers me, the skin didnt transfer to the \"Thanks for your submission, if this page doesnt reload, click hear page\"

All text boxes should be a darker color, white bugs me.

i like the colors alot better over all though.  good start to a change.

I dislike it. It seems cramped and hard to read.

there is a word for this that webdevelopers use that adapts to different browsers.  i bet K9mike can fix it.

im with Ryan on this one. I liked the blue one better

fixed width, logo and banner placement in the header, \"thanks for posting\" page doesn\'t match, background colors in user info and post breaks is jarring and lacks contrast.

not a bad start, I like it in general.

Title: Re: New Skin

I like it in general too. Change is good.

Front page layout needs to be fixed ASAP, it\'s completely hosed.  I don\'t have time to work on it today....  and I have an amendment to write first when I do get some time :)
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: etk300ex on January 18, 2010, 07:49:51 AM
only comment i have on the website is to get rid of the \"wheeler menu\" when your logged in, but that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: k9keeper on January 18, 2010, 09:04:33 AM
Fixed left menu getting to big.
made screen width dynamic (you may need to refresh your browser to see this; F5 button)
Fixed redirect not having new theme
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: k9keeper on January 18, 2010, 09:08:05 AM
dynamic screen width messes with Mudnuts logo. I need to swear... have a dynamic discussion with my computer screen.

And no that does not really help, but we all do it.
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: MrMindless on January 18, 2010, 09:15:01 AM
couldn\'t reply with a screenshot attached.  got a plain wrapper black text on white page saying \"Protector detects attacking actions\"
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: MrMindless on January 18, 2010, 09:15:57 AM
background on the reply has the same contrast issue.

this is what I was going to say but couldn\'t attach the screenshot
I\'m in fixed width and the logo placement is off.  looks like the float is based off the wrong corner of the image or something odd like that.  it\'s always just to the left of the left margin.
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: k9keeper on January 18, 2010, 09:39:15 AM
Mudnuts logo grows up.
Width is now dynamic.
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: MrMindless on January 18, 2010, 09:44:26 AM
I\'ll buy the grows \'up\', but the halign is weird....

seems the same in IE8 on XP in or out of compatibility mode, Safari on MacOS, FF on Mac and XP.

Front page is looking good though!

I\'ll attempt the screenshot attachment again

oo, i can read the forum with chrome.  xp ie i cant.

mudnuts splash takes like 1/4 of the webpage, needs to move in the main area so the site has more room.  everything is squashed still

nah, it\'s definitely growing left from the center header, which can go to the left margin.

If you need a hand point me to the right files and I can probably poke at it tomorrow.

Post by: k9keeper on January 18, 2010, 03:47:49 PM
Undid very complex header and logo area. The person that created this was way better at hacking css than I. There were 3 smarty includes to draw the part above the menus.

Logo should be above menu now and banner ads should show up centered in background image. Every thing should be relative to the page now. The logo and headers were relative to each other. When I moved the logo there were \'interesting\' side effects. Yeah that\'s the word I was using.

yes looking alot better go mike.

my last complaint which i think is mostly my fault for not standardizing sponsor banners, some of them come up goofy.  like 20% of the aussie locker one (the widest) is cut off on my screen, with no horizontal scroll bar.

also the auto parts one needs to be fixed.  i think i can manage this, ill take a look later.

Yeah, they just need to all be a standard size and work around that.

Looking great now Mike, thanks for the work.

ya looks awesome.  maybe the white text boxes under avitars and the reply box could be fixed to a darker color.

Hey this is looking amazing.
Great work guys.
logged on tonight and everything is working and looking good.
Can we change color of info boxes under avatar? A little too bright for me.
While i didnt understand all the mumbo jumbo the mikes were chatting about...
you guys made it all come together.
GREAT JOB!

Wow!!  Big change.  At first I thought I was on a different forum.

I have to agree with Erik on the info boxes under the avatars being too bright.  Also the box with the warning about inappropriate content that is above the reply message box you can hardly read (not that anyone is going to do that :lol1: ).

All in all I think it looks great. :chug:

Title: Re: New Skin

To submit a photo to the member rigs, you need to be a paying member of the club.  To become a paying member you must attend a meeting or sponsored event and fill out a membership form and pay the dues.

a PNG just like what you attached.  odd.

smike says things are very very broken in IE6.  front page layout, second page of topics, replying, etc.  I don\'t have an instance here to test with - that terminal server is down.

I hate IE6....

your PNG is okay, my screenshot is not.  I\'m confused.  but I\'m sure that\'s not a skin issue....

Ignorant Explorer 6 is drawing the center column below the menus. Very nice...
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: MrMindless on January 19, 2010, 06:46:33 AM
it has issues with CSS floats and relative placements as I recall, it\'s been a while...  there are huge retarded workarounds I\'ve read about, they were annoying enough that I went another route.

I don\'t know how easy a browser detect would be, it\'s a sticky issue.  I hate IE6 with the seething, burning passion of 7 suns.

aparenty forcing a refresh on topic page 3 of a thread only is my problem.  i had to go to the first page, refresh, and go through refreshing to the end of any thread i had tried to view, and couldnt.  now i can seet the forum finally.

website looking good over all other than main page spacing on ie.

last forum complaint.  text under avitars is too so small its pixilated together i can barely read it.

i was going to attach what i see, but i can only quick reply, i get a blank screen when i hit the real reply.

everything seems to work w Chrome.
I dont see a quick reply at the bottom of page though.
it works if i hit the quick reply button.

We can change the order of the blocks that display. Putting recent topics above Mudnuts in Action.

I think I have fixes for IE6. I will post them tonight (Javacript fix that prevents some buttons from working and the home page display issue)

PEBKAC?

Can you be more specific about your problems? When can\'t you log on? What computer/browser are you using when this occurs? What do you get when you cannot login?

When cant you post?
Do these problems always occur using the same computer?

Did you have problems before the skin change?

I just fixed IE6 Javascript issues that prevented users from posting and sending PMs for IE6 users

Same thing seen here in IE6 on Win2003 Server.

Deleting a message from viewing the message is fine.  The issue appears when checking the box to delete messages from your inbox.

the log in cookie issue I have seen on all browsers, even my blackberry.  Log in, its says thanks, then kicks you back to main screen not logged in, won\'t stay logged in until you delete all Mudnuts cookies.  Was definitely seen before the new screen.  Seems to haven gotten worse after SMike tweaked the timeout.

Thanks for all of the work you have put into this!

regarding PM\'s

when i hit reply to a PM the default \"To\" person is not the person i want to reply to.  im not sure how many messages i just send to \"01rangerbigfoot\" because he is the default it sets me up to reply to a PM....

i have 3 PM\'s from someone, first two are like this, the last one it replys correctly.  im confused.

IE8 on XP

Updated site.   Notifications now delete. PMs delete. You get a screen with no messages with a message about are you sure you want to delete.

Everything is looking great. IS the forum going to stay the same if the proposed name change passes?

I have a problem on my laptop loging in and speed, but it must be this computer because its fine on my desktop and on Liz\'s laptop.
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: k9keeper on February 24, 2010, 06:40:56 AM
I don\'t have any plans to change the forum. We have not discussed anything at the board meeting. I have been updating the website to current versions of the code. XOOPS is now current, but PHP is not and I don\'t know about the web server.

If users have issues with the web site, I want to hear about them. I want to quantify them to determine the correct action. You the 3rd to mention a log on problem with a computer. Since I have no user usage data I cannot say how unique this problem is. I can\'t recreate it.

How man others feel there is a need for a change?

The website looks 100 times better than it used to. You hard work is shown in the forum. It is a much nicer looking forum to see.

I have zero idea how xoops is run, but I would think SMF or PHBB is a better software to use and more familiar to people. It could also have a better admin area as well. I dont know squat about any of it so dont listen to me. :-)

I would like to know K9s opinon on it since he has done most of the work.
Title: Re: New Skin
Post by: gCracker on February 24, 2010, 06:57:19 AM
Mike- I just did a quick search and found
http://www.xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=78&lid=1487

which will do some XOOPs monitoring.. not sure if that gives you anything different than the google analytics.
Title: Re: New Skin

Google analytics is a great tool. It gives you every piece of information you could ask for. That was a great idea to put it on here.

Is it possible to post weekly or monthly reports in the members section?

Are you *currently* having the slow loading issues?  Mike just made some changes that should have made that better earlier this week.

Is there anything in particular that is slow?

I know I have an old laptop with an old browser and that may be the problem but the old site was faster for some reason.

Just wondering if other folks were having the same issue?
