Title: project (m)icheal (j)ackson
Post by: luvmyxj on September 20, 2009, 04:04:03 PM
so my new project is a 89\" jeep comanche 2wd renix 4.0l 6 i think with the ba-10.i\'ve always owned pick-up\'s and thought a mj is more my style.
my plans,
air shocks or coilovers havn\'t deceided yet
1 ton axles with 37\" goodyear hummer tires
cage and 5 points
i\'m using all the funds from the xj, so this project should move pretty quick

pics of 1st day home.i filled 4 garbage cans of junk from the cab and bed

1st order was to strip all the rusty panels, she may look bad but its all sheetmetal and the unibody/frame is in good shape,i also cut off all the rust from the rockers and bed.its hard to believe only 10 years of roch. winters have made it this rusty,it originally came from florida.anyways i\'m gonna put a 98\"cherokee front clip on.got most of it sanded and went to the pick\'n\'pull and started getting parts

sorry arie, threw it out like a week ago, between the mouse poo and holes in it plus the broken bottle of deer urine the seats where unusable, and i cut the brackets out just to get them out of there.there is a 86\'mj at j&J P\'N\'P THAT looks brand new with a leather bench.

i bought the mj while the wife was on a family vacation, she was not amused when she 1st saw it

update
took this pile on its 1st real wheelin trip to big dogs, it had some issues that got worked out with the help of everyone but got a solid 2 days of wheelin
issues:
overheating=fixed
rear u-joint=fixed
fuel pump issues=fixed
shredded fan belt=fixed
front output sheared bolts=fixed
brake issues not so much fixed but dealt with
broken valve stem and leaky o ring=fixed

came home to find out my engine mounts are so worn it moved forward enough to put a pinhole in my brand new radiator

I think you need a machined, true spacer to really fix the brakes.

and figure out the right internal lockup joint for that rear.
I think it\'s a Dodge 7290, and you need a 7290-1350 conversion.

I should have remembered that - and in fact I believe I run one of those joints coming out of my transmission in the Dakota.

i bet i could spin something pretty easy on the lathe if you explane what it needs to do

the joint is probably the same coming out of the slip yoke of the buggy to the 205 also  lol

no, i handed the two pieces to fleet pride and told them to make a joint be there inbetween them.  24$ and 10 minutes later it was back in my hand.
