Title: Winch
Post by: metalwolf420 on July 31, 2009, 02:00:43 PM
I want to get a winch but i already have  a grill guard.  Is there a way i can weld in supports onto my grill guard?  If not im just going to stick with tow straps.  If it can be done with supports and more welding do you guys know anyone who is willing to do this for me?

Most grill guards are more cosmetic than anything, and would not support the stresses that a winch would give its mounting points, especially for any side pulls.

Personally I think a good rule of thumb for judging winch mount points is, \"would I hang my rig from a tree by this?\"  If you wouldn\'t, it\'s surely not good enough for long term durability, and you really don\'t want it to fail you when you need it most.
