Did you see the link smike posted for the site that custom builds links. I was thinking about getting my lowers from them then adding tabs to make them into y-links.

Why buy them when you can build them for less.

well i built my current lowers from rustys super flex joints and skyjacker poly ends.so ill reuse the super flex and tube inserts and either the poly ends again or ballistic hard ends.so basically need tube.
as far as the 30 in gonna get inner and outers from a 97\' newer i believe to run 760x axle joints, and 4:10 gears to match the 8.8 and down the road get an aussie

picked up a ford 8.8at all city for what was suppose to be $125 but after making me wait 25 min they knocked $10 bucks off,so i got it for $115.got it home stripped it down, wire wheeled it, made up some perches and spring plates and welded them in ,brake lines routed as well.still need to swap e-brake cables from the d35 and put on shock mounts.in case your wondering it has 4:10 gears with a trac lock.

I like how your using cinder blocks to hold up the Jeep. Always wondered how many cinder blocks it would take to hold up an XJ :-D

I must ask, How did you get the Cherokee to 4 cinder block height?
Title: Re: project hardcore weekend web wheeler
Post by: luvmyxj on July 07, 2009, 04:32:01 PM
they are not cinder blocks, they are retaining wall block, these are completely solid and only 5\" tall a piece so its only 20\" in the air .i have sold those blocks with a bunch other i had and finally bought jackstands.i have a 60\" hi-lift to got it that high.

anyhoo, here she sits.rear axle complete, alls left to do in front is mount shock tabs.sitting on 34\"s.got a bunch of loose ends to tie up and do the steering,i think i\'m gonna order heims tonight .i believe these will  do.

smike you know better than that, weld the spiders to each other too!

not that the stock 30 shafts are going to like 34\" tires and a welded diff anyway :)

EDIT: boo typos

you mean stock 30 shafts?
Title: Re: project hardcore weekend web wheeler
Post by: luvmyxj on July 08, 2009, 07:42:20 AM
he did weld the spiders together on the other side.
30 shafts laugh at 34x10.50.35x12.50 are a different story

all four sides of gears welded to case on both sides.  gears weled to eachother on one side, we were having splatter issues that was making more work that it was worth so i didnt weld the teeth together on the side shown.

any one of my welds would have been enough in itself since they arent under powered flux core bird droppings.

after words i was thinking i wonder if a circle track \"welded diff\" would have been better for him like eric use to run.

and your starting with the 297 joints right, i wheeled a while with 267(?) on the CJ (35x12.50)

Post by: luvmyxj on July 08, 2009, 07:55:03 AM
yes running 297.the34 should weigh the same as a 33x12.50 ,which i\'ve never come accross someone breaking shafts while locked unless their idea of wheeling is gripping the steering wheel and pressing down with their foot as hard as they can.im more worried about the ring gear.

you have no gearset worries with 4.10s.  remember all the other recent breakage in the club has been with 4.88s.  Keith has run 4.10s with 35s for how long? and that\'s been since he put the 8.8 in the back in AZ, so that\'s a lot of miles.
