Title: 2001 Dodge Cummins - Tow rig
Post by: smichaelR22 on May 06, 2009, 12:24:13 PM
Some how i managed to talk scrambler josh into selling me his truck (and trailer).

Awesome truck, but of course i couldnt leave it as it was and have a few things left to go.

so far i got rid of all the rust and yuckyness that was seeping through on the two tone silver.  sprayed it black bedliner, re-did the tail gate and bed rails.  Mounted a CB antenna, which worked good last trip.

its got a pretty bad oil leak that has gotten worse the last two rausch trips and what i can read up on, the seal insided the vaccum pump is shot that the power steering drive dog shaft rides in.  new vac pump is 400$, but i found an upgraded double lip seal kit to rebuild the vac pump that comes with installation tools and extra parts for 68$ shipped.  not bad- ordered it and hope to get it done for KOH trip.

Future plans: looking for a power programer for milage and towing benifits.

It needs a muffler too. :-)

What if you are parked next to him at Rausch during the winter. Could you listen to that thing running all night?

re-paded the drivers seat cause it was messed up and leaning bad.

Replaced the vacuum pump output seal that the power steering pump shaft rides in and got rid of the oil leak!!!

ordered a diablo power puck that should hopefully be here today.

repaired the apolstry of the driver seat.

saving for a juice with attitude and pillar mount for display.

put in a Juice with attitude this week.  just changed the tranny fluid and a fresh oil change today.

started playing around with the juice.  stock looks like my 0-60 time is about 16 seconds.  on level 3 im at about 9.8 seconds with pleanty of fuel pressure and good EGT\'s.  hope to play more.

towing is awesome in my new \"tow\" mode.

Both of you will have to \"camp\" near the office if you are going to leave your loud junk running all night.

I plan to have a camper of some sort by then.  propane furnaces are quiet.  so are deep cycle batteries.

bent my frame back today with the help of nicks equipment trailer, some load binders, chains, jack stands, and some bottle jacks.

looks a ton better and the rear frame is back where it should be.  tail gate even works again!

once we got it up on the trailer and the inner fenders off, i found the kink in the frame that the body shop couldnt find.  some redneck engineering, it looks good, and feels good now.

I have been putting some work in to this girl.

she got a new (to me) brake controller, 4 new rotors, 4 sets of pads, new ebrake shoes, some light bulbs replaced, fixed a sagging driver door, and added an upgraded air filter.

Also this weekend i picked up a set of 19.5\" with some F rated tires (tires are pretty old) for a steal at J&J.  They are extreemly hard to find SRW 19.5\'s that just bolt on.  shopping for some wheel spacers and new rubber this week.
